KiaraEvirm reacted to Alex in How to Contribute Test Data
I've started putting up disk and controller test data in this forum, as it relates to the StableBit Scanner's ability to gather SMART and Identify data using various disk controllers.

    Direct I/O Test

"Direct I/O" is a set of technologies that the StableBit Scanner uses to read data directly from the disk. I collect my test results using an internal Direct I/O testing tool.

You can get the latest version here: Download

The tool will probe your disk and controller for various forms of data that the StableBit Scanner uses and will display either a green check mark or a red X to indicate whether the probe was successful. At the bottom, it will list the probing "methods" that were successfully used to probe the controller / disk.

If you're interested in contributing your test data to this forum, then just run the tool and select a disk that is connected to the controller that you want to probe.

Make sure that your computer is not doing anything else while probing. There is a small chance that the probing process will crash your system.

After my PC took a dive the other day I rebuilt and reinstalled and decided to install the latest version of CloudDrive.  After installing I tried to create a new drive since all of my old drives were created on much older builds.  It looks as though creating new drives in ACD has been disabled with this build.  Is there any way around this?  I was using my own developer key in the previous build also.  Has that functionality also been removed?

KiaraEvirm reacted to chaostheory in Help moving 6,5 TB from 1 GDrive to... the same GDrive
Hello guys, I found myself in pretty tough situation. When I first heard about StableBit CloudDrive and unlimited GDrive, I wanted to set-up my "Unlimited Plex" as fast as possible. This resulted in creating a cloud drive with half-assed settings, like 10 MB chunk size and so on. Now that I know this is not optimal and it's too late to change chunk size, I need to create another CloudDrive with better settings and transfer everything to it.

Downloading it and uploading using local PC will take forever and I want to avoid that. I was thinking about using Google Cloud Compute, so my PC won't have to be turned on and more importantly -> there won't be a problem with uploading 6,5 TB again which, on my current connection, will take roughly 2 weeks. That's assuming it will go smoothly without any problems.

Is there any guide how to do this? I don't mind if it's reasonably paid option also. Any help?

KiaraEvirm reacted to Ian Spencer in G Suite and unlimited Google drive
My understanding to get unlimited account for Google drive option is only available to G Suite which requires a minimum of 5 paid accounts at $50 a year. You then have an option of $10 per month for unlimited drive space.

Given this I'm happy to supply a domain if I can get 4 or 5 other people to share expense of a 5 account would 30+ TB and grow over time
be reasonable use or does Google truely supply unlimited storage? Is Google drive very reliable? Can you have more than one drive per email account? Are there any other people here interested in joining up to share costs?

Anyone see problems with this plan?

Are there any other affordable unlimited or huge storage services that are reliable as clearly I ACD is not interested in this party party storage applications.

How safe would my data be, I want to put all my Plex video on plus data backup. Most storage would be for Plex.

    Thanks

KiaraEvirm reacted to zeus163 in Pulled healthy drive in one set-up--SMART warning in new one
I replaced some drives in my server with larger ones. All three of the old drives that were being replaced showed as healthy in Stablebit Scanner. I put two of them in another machine and when I restarted, Stablebit Scanner came up with, "The on-disk S.M.A.R.T. check is not predicting imminent disk failure. However, some well known S.M.A.R.T. attributes that are indicators of mechanical problems are showing signs that the drive could be failing." Apparently, the error is for reallocated sectors.

I'm just curious why this would be considered healthy in one machine and not on this one? All I did was unplug it and walk it upstairs. I know hard drives can be delicate beasts, but I'm just curious.

KiaraEvirm reacted to srcrist in Reindexing Google Internal Server Errors
So my service crashed last night. I opened a ticket and sent you the logs to take a look at, so we can set that aside. But while it was reindexing it got one of the Internal Server Error responses from Google Drive. Just one. Then it started reindexing the entire drive again starting at chunk 4,300,000 or so. Does it really have to do that? This wouldn't have been a big deal when this drive was small...but this process takes about 8 hours now every time it has to reindex the drive, and it happened at around the halfway mark. Four hours of lost time is frustrating. Does it HAVE to start over? Can it not just retry at the point where it got the error? Am I missing something?

    Hi,

My internet is a bit limited with only 75Mb down and 17up.

When streaming via Plex, I can get shows to start (i.e. on the first playback without it timing out as the cache builds) if I set it to 150MB but what would be useful would be if I could get it to rise to 400MB automatically after a few minutes of playback. Is this a feasible request in terms of programming? I'm not a developer and have no idea how feasible this is but it would help me immensely.

    Many thanks,

Hello again.  I'm trying to figure out if there is any way to subdivide drives within a single pool so that I can prioritize which ones duplicate data first.

My scenario is this.  I've got two external USB3 JBOD drive carriages that hold 4 disks each.  If I just add all of the disks to a Drivepool, the data is spread across each of the drives fairly evenly no matter which carriage they are in.  I'd like to have the duplicated data be written to each seperate carriage whenever there is enough available space to do so.  This would provide better performance since they are not all going through the same USB interface, and also better security since if one carriage was damaged then the other would have a better chance to survive.

I know that you can limit which individual drives receive duplicated data,  is there any way to do that for groups of drives?

The "tl;dr:" of this is that there isn't anything we can do, this is a problem with Amazon. And we are not the only company that is seeing this issue. It's happening across the board.

I have several files on ACD that return 404 errors when downloads are attempted. {"statusCode":"404"}" to be precise! They appear as normal in the web interface, but downloads always fail. Is this the same issue? I've made contact with Amazon regarding this, and have had it escalated to the Drive team, so am hoping for a response soonTM.

On the other hand, if it was the 429 errors when downloading, then that has since been solved.

    Hello,

I'm using scanner v2.5.1.3062 on Windows Server 2012r2 and I don't appear to have up to date temperature for my drives.  If I view the SMART Details screen for a drive, the last temperature sample will be anywhere from 2 to 15 hours old.  The slider where you can adjust what is displayed in the temperature graph is all the way to the right and samples are set to be taken every minute.  The temperature displayed in the main scanner window matches the last sample but also does not appear to be up to date.  What caused me to notice this is that running a surface scan on the drive caused no temperature change but I would have expected it to increase after 30+ minutes of scanning.  Are there any settings I should check to resolve this?  Will scanner throttle the scan if the current drive temp exceeds the max even if the UI does not indicate the current temp?

    Thanks!

EDIT:  Stopping & restarting the StableBit Scanner Service appears to cause a refresh in the UI.  After restarting the service I can see temperature readings were taken once per minute.  However, they do not update in the Smart Details UI until the service is restarted.  Closing & reopening the Scanner UI alone does cause the new temperature data to be displayed.
