KiaraEvirm reacted to filthyrich in Backup / Clone of a Google Drive account
    Hi!

Just before I pull the trigger on buying this software, does anybody have a good method to back up a google drive account to a secondary account? It doesn't NEED to be a second google account, but that would be simpler.

Of course I need this backed up drive to be able to re-create the same drives in Windows.

    Thanks!

I have been getting "parameter is incorrect" all day as well.
    Tried 725, 730 and 748.
Didn't encounter this error and unmounting of disk before, when I was running the latest stable build.

It looks like the authentication for OneDrive for Business is having issues at the moment.

We are looking into the issue, and hope to fix it in the near future.

Sorry, but we don't have an ETA on this, as the issue depends on what exactly Microsoft changed on their end.

Are any of you having problems with your Stablebit drives on Google Drive?  I have two Google Drive accounts that I use Stablebit on and all of my drives from one of my accounts aren't working correctly.  They are mounted but only random files will stream and some will play but quit after a minute or two as if they are corrupt.  When I try to download any of the files, the stablebit threads shoot to 40+ and the 5+ GB downloads finish in 5 seconds and the downloaded file is corrupt.  All of the drives on my other Google Drive account are working like normal.  This just started happening about an hour ago.

EDIT: I just checked the service log and I am getting a bunch of these errors:

20:49:57.4: Warning: 0 : [OAuth2TokenBase:29275794] HttpProtocolException refreshing token. HTTP Status BadRequest

Anyone who expects to use a product that has a feature that you have to exclusively enable because its known to be unstable and not reliable is a bit delusional. I find it absurd that people actually used it for anything other than testing, or throwing data into it that you don't care if you lose.

    Just my two cents.

I have not been able to get Google drive working well. The download is always limited to about 3-4 Mbps. Before it use to be much higher, seems like the more people using this app the performance takes a heavy hit because of it. Anyway to get it resolved?

    Hi,

I've noticed on the roadmap an item called 'Stablebit FileSafe' due for release sometime this year... Any word on what this is?  I'd love real time parity protection using drivepools pooling system, rather than snapshot and I'm loathe to move to a competitor to achieve this and wondered whether filesafe was something similar to parity?

    Just curious more than anything.

    Cheers,

Hey all, I've decided to migrate from Drivepool to Storage Spaces + ReFS recently due to file integrity concerns. One of the things I loved about drivepool is the
Stablebit Scanner integration. Unfortunately, it seems that Scanner is unable to detect/read SMART data from drives in the storage pool. CrystalDiskInfo sees those drives just fine, so I was wondering if Scanner could implement that as well.

    Cheers.

Hi! On newly created drives i got a lot of uploading errors, it can take forever to upload just 200mb of data. On an older drive i have no problems at all to upload. I took a picture of the error in the "Feed Back console" I have a 200/200 Mb/s connection.

    Is it a known problem?
    Thanks!

Edit: The old drive was created using version 777, and the new drive was created using version 811. I am using version 819 atm.

KiaraEvirm reacted to Avtechman in Server 2012 R2 Question for Chris (Drashna)
Almost feels im talking to myself lol.

Anyway Chris wanted to ask you about how are you liking running WS2012R2? Besides using it as a domain controller what other things are you using with it?

In my case, i have briefly used R2 Essentials starting out but now have a license for Standard which some say is better anyway. Ive always been intrigued in working with server based gear and OS's.

I've built my server using the SM X9SCL+-F board with the Xeon 1230 v2 cpu with 16gb ram in the Antec 302 case.

In my case, I have 6 computers running Win7, two of them being workstations, 3 XP machines, and 3 laptops. I know with the Essentials role in Standard it doesn't support XP clients for backups but I can use Paragon Recovery to backup the XP boxes to a network share.

I plan to run Emby server, Drivepool and Scanner all on the same box, and possibly JRiver for all my music needs.

Other things id like to use my server for is network booting via PXE and i have two network printers i use regularly. I'm debating whether to delve into domains as i have tried it before but admit was a little confusing on how domains work but am willing to give it another go at it and get some understanding.

I also read that 2012 can also be used to give out IP addresses as well. I have used HyperV before and it works very well, but not sure whether i need to do VM at this time.

I also bought an LSI 9211 8i SAS card (already flashed to IT mode, P19 firmware) with the cables. I'm looking forward to delving deeper into the world of servers!

I started using this week. and its $100 a year.. so there is that.

The professional service does a 'delete' after a successful upload.. you put 10 gig in it, it will delete 10 gig, replace it with download markers, when its succeded.

there does seem to be a 4,6,or 8 gig file size limit, so be sure to split the really big files.

KiaraEvirm reacted to kenwshmt in near offline backup with netdrive 2 and boxcrypter
After nearly $200 of experimenting on different software combinations, i finally have one that works. I cant say it works on the drivepool system, as ive not gotten it to work there, but that isn't unique to itself, its a finicky system. it is just as well, netdrive 2 and boxcryptor can be resource hogs.

netdrive2 can use amazon cloud drive (unlimited at $60 per year), and map it as a virtual drive.
boxcryptor then maps to that virtual drive (another virtual drive) giving you file name encryption(it looks like unicode korean, at least 64 characters) and otherwise transparent, random access; endless drive encrypted goodness.

amazon cloud drive shows as a 107 TB path, and it never seems to shrink. My upload pipe is 100mb, I have been pushing 350 gig a day to it.
boxcryptor is file encryption, any one file isn't depending on the environment to work, and it works from multiple systems at the same time.

Its arguably fragile, you can get on and wipe out the backup, its little more than a mapped drive.. but its been chugging along for a week for me. as a 'second' backup its very good, i can fill it with crap i wouldn't bother backing up otherwise.

-- netdrive2 caches EVERYTHING that passes through it, so you need to dedicate a whole drive to where the cache lives, and the intended backup material used in a 'move'.. so its deleted as soon as the transfer completes. the cache clears on reset. and its defiantly transferring, not waiting in que. the windows file copy will pause while netdrive uploads, then resume for the next file. use friendly copy apps. terra copy, or xxcopy command line have been fine.

restoring / coping back is a bit inconsistent, as it cashes that as well, so while your 'copy' may seem to be slow, its going into the cache first. I did 6 gig in about 45 minutes in a restore.

    Hi Chris

I spent most of today in a meeting with a small tech company demonstrating refs and storage spaces that was the main focus however other software was also used in the demo drivepool was one of them.

While I think due to reading negative reviews I have never even looked at storage spaces I have to say I was very impressed with how they presented it disconnecting drives pulling the power plug, taking a drive out and connecting to another machine to show the data is still readable and to find it's very much on par with drivepool. Also the read and write speeds were good. The closets software they compared it to was drivepool which they had much praise for the only negative comment was the lack of refs support in drivepool and the benefits of using refs so is refs support on the todo list and can it be fully integrated into drivepool to take advantage of its file healing this would eliminate the need for the file safe program we have been asking for so a bit of a trade off.

KiaraEvirm reacted to T.Bone in Random drive noise
I just picked up 2 6tb drives to give me some wiggle room while I figure out my server build wants and needs. I noticed they are pretty quite but one makes a very very random ZZTT! noise for a second then is quite again. is this normal? I thought maybe it was wake up noise for the platter but I wasn't sure. Does anyone have these drives? is this something you noticed? If I need to return the drive I would like to know ASAP obviously. I turned on duplication just incase but I'm still a little short on drives to cover everything.

I did install drive sentinel as I didn't know what else to do....

I don't see anything stating good or bad. as I write this I just remembered you make a scanner also.
