  1. Ah, okay. If you don't have enough space on the pooled drives, it can cause the "not enough free space" error. Additionally, moving the sliders around in the "Prevent Drive Overfill" acan cause the disks to get fuller, and more likely to cause this issue.
  2. The delete issue was a bug with how we were handling that and is resolved in the beta builds. As for the plex, that's very weird. I use plex on my system, and have everything duplicated actually. It does have some issues detecting changes right away, but that's usually resolved in an hour or so. If you continue to have this issue, please do let us know.
  3. Because, in general, the damage has already been done. Moving it off may actually cause more problems, as it may grab corrupted files (or the security permissions may be corrupt on it, etc). So moving the data off isn't helpful. To clarify, are you resetting the status on the file system scan and it's coming back as healthy? Or is just not clearing at all? And to clear it, click on the "+" on the left hand side of the disk. Find the "File system health" section and click on the up arrow thing. This should reveal a list of the volumes on the disk, and have a button on the left side. Click on it and select the "mark all damaged files systems as unchecked" and then let is scan again. See if it comes back.
  4. Have you messed with the balancer settings (I mean like the settings for Ordered File Placement and the like) at all? If so, how have you set that up?
  5. Okay, That's what i figured. I'm guessing that other software packages would have the same problem as well. ANd I know some controllers are weird about port number listing.... My LSI cards ... are completely out of order (and it drives me up a wall). It lists the LSI controller before the onboard (argh), and then disks are not listed in order, but are listed basically randomly.
  6. Glad to hear it! And yes, the 650W power supply should be more than plenty. If it makes you feel any better, my UPS reports 140-150W load most of the time for my server. That's with 14xHDDs, 2xSSD, similar processor and 3x LSI cards. This. Also it maybe a good idea to buy a power supply tester and make sure that all of the connections work properly as well. Specifically, don't connect a splitter to a splitter ever. ANd try to even out the cables that you do use to even out the load. The LSI (RAID) controller should let you pass on the disks to the system without a) flashing it, using a RAID array. So you shouldn't need to flash the controller at all.
  7. Yes. There are two ways. There is a registry hack to hide specific disk letters... but I recommend agains this. The other is to remove the disk letters (and then ideally mount them to a folder). This can be done via Disk Management. http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q4822624 Skip steps #5-8 if you don't want any mount point.
  8. For StableBit DrivePool, it doesn't matter which mode you use. As long as the disks are accessible, it's fine. However, for StableBit Scanner, the "Legacy" (IDE) mode doesn't work to get SMART data. In this case you need to use the AHCI mode, ideally. Otherwise ... you maybe able to connect the disks to the RAID controller and NOT create an array. This should in theory pass the disks on to the OS and allow you to use the disks directly AND get SMART data from them. Though, I'm not entirely sure about the controller, as I don't own the hardware.
  9. There is a bug with the file placement rules and having multiple pools. I am sorry that this has affected you, and wiped your rules. This bug is fixed in the internal beta builds, though. If you could, please download the latest beta build and use that instead: http://dl.covecube.com/DrivePoolWindows/beta/download/ We do plan on adding an "import/export" option, actually.
  10. Well, I'm sorry to hear about the power outage and the other issues.... BUt i'm glad to hear that the new installation seems to be working fine though! As for reinstalling.... if Windows 10 system has the "create system image" option, you could use that. It would give you a clean point to restore to if something goes wrong.
  11. The surface scan is only active during the work window. By default, StableBit Scanner queries for SMART data every couple of minutes. By enabling the "only query during the work window or if scanning" means that StableBit Scanner will ONLY query for SMART data during the work window. If something changes in the SMART data outside of this window, we won't pick it up until the next work window. Enabling the "Throttle" option means that it queries once every "X" minutes instead of every couple of minutes. Enabling both options means that it will only query a couple of times during the work window, instead of every few minutes. This may be the best option if you want to avoid waking the disks unless absolutely necessary. As for wear and tear, .... I had a bunch of ST3000DM001 disks... these disks seem to have a high failure rate... Most of mine were 2-3 years old before they started developing issues. And that was with them on 24/7. I have a couple that still work just fine, though. No issues at all. My point? Either option should allow you to get much more mileage out of your disks. And enabling both options will definitely. But, it may not be necessary.
  12. It doesn't current initiate this. However, we've had people ask about this, and it is something we are considering including. However, to clarify, any write to the disk here will potentially block your ability to use disk recovery to recover any damaged files. That's why it's not in there right now. However, you can run "chkdsk /r" to manually initiate the process.
  13. To make sure, the disk is okay, but StableBit Scanner keeps on flagging it as a damaged file system? If so, are you using NTFS or a different file system for the disk in question? If you're using NTFS, could you enable the advanced logging for StableBit Scanner? To do this, you will need to open the StableBit Scanner UI. Click on the Settings button in the toolbar and select Scanner Settings. Enable the Show advanced settings and information option, and hit "OK". You will only need to do this once, from now on, it will always display this option. Click on Settings, and select the new Advanced Settings and information option. Find the "ChkDsk" entry in the list and click on it. Let this run and error out. Once it does, grab the contents of "C:\ProgramData\StableBit Scanner\" and sent it to us via the contact form (https://stablebit.com/Contact) In the meanwhile, you can use the DIsk Settings to disable the file system scan, at least temporarily.
  14. Regardless of the rest, the bit about less risky than finding out issue with data on it is really the key point here, I think. Once the data is on the disk, if it isn't healthy, then you risk data loss, and that's never okay. Actually, (without having access to the specific script, as i'm not a registered user there), it does a full zero pass of the disk, then does a full sector by sector read (i'm guessing on this part). It then looks at the SMART data for reallocated sectors (which Scanner can see as well). In fact, to duplicate this, you'd write zero's to the entire disk, then let StableBit Scanner do a full surface scan. And to be honest, doing a full format (which is what I usually do) and letting Scanner "do it's thing" should be essentially the same thing. ALso, I know that a few people have asked us to include a full write pass to the disk. It's something that we've talked about and considered. However, it hasn't been a priority to get into StableBit Scanner as it is VERY dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. But for a power user, this may be a great feature (it will have 2-3 prompts at a minimum, if we do implement it)
  15. There should be a "x1 (change)" option in the top, left side of the panel. Clicking on "Change" should allow you to specify any number between 1 and 10). However, this only appears for StableBit DrivePool or StableBit Scanner, but not for the combo. If you want multiple of each, that's a bit more complicated (and we apologize for that). In this case, buy two of the DrivePool license. Then go to buy the Scanner licenses. If you don't see the combo item (Scanner+DrivePool), then you should get the discounted price right away. Otherwise scroll down until you see the "Already own one of our products" and put in your newly purchased Activation ID and hit the "apply" button. This will refresh the page and show the discounted price. (I apologize if you don't want Scanner as well, but I wanted to make sure the info was presented right away, instead of having to ask and wait for a reply). Regards
  16. Okay. Well, I know we have used the http://translate.covecube.com/ in the past, but I'm not sure if the italian allows editing curently (as I think it's marked as complete).
  17. Well, the issue is only with OneDrive on Windows 8 or 8.1. So if you use Windows 7, that should work fine (tested in a VM and seems to work just fine). However, in the meanwhile... move the folder into the PoolPart folder on one of the pooled disks. Then create a File Placement rule to keep the files on JUST that disk. Also, set OneDrive to download everything (so it's all local, and on the disk) This should allow you to keep the file in the pool and accessible. And hopefully, should duplicate it properly to another drive (the hopeful is for the "properly" bit, as the pool will definitely duplicate it if it's enabled).
  18. I'm using an A8, I think and haven't been maxing the CPU at all. And the same with my Xeon (stats why is very similar to the i7-4770). However, I'm using the "Direct to disk" method and not converting the files (you can do that later). So it really depends on the number of cameras you're using, the quality and if you're transcoding the files). But yes, best bet is to overshoot on hardware, that way you have room to grow, if needed.
  19. Unfortunately, no I can't give a time frame. Alex is the developer, and the one that handles this. Also, depending on exactly how this is implemented, it could be a five minute fix or it could take a month to fix. Or longer. It's hard to be able to tell until we start messing with it. I'll bug Alex about it this week though.
  20. As for the "stuck" duplication, it may be copying large files, so it may take a while to do this. Additionally, because the duplication and balancing runs at a background priority, it may take longer than a normal file copy. If it doesn't progress at all, then enable the file system logging and let it run for a while. http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Log_Collection Submit the logs when you open a ticket. Additionally, the newer beta versions do have an option to boost the priority of the duplication or balancing process in the UI. Or you can use the advanced settings to set this permanemently: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Advanced_Settings Set "FileBalance_BackgroundIO" and "FileDuplication_BackgroundIO" to "false" and reboot.
  21. Ah, okay. And to clarify, the "Server" service is the network shares service.
  22. If you enable the "only query during the work window or if scanning" option, then the drives will only be woken then. This should be good enough to prevent StableBit Scanner from waking the disks all the time. And 3am to 6am sounds like a good window. You can set the "throttle queries" option as well. The default is 60 minutes (once an hour) but you can set this higher, if you want. However, keep in mind that this will cause the SMART data to not be updated as often. As for the USB options, it will follow the other rules in StableBit Scanner. So it will only be scanned during the work window (if you set that) and the same with the SMART queries. Yes, you want the "Sart/stop automatically" option enabled, otherwise it won't scan unless you manually start it. Meaning that it won't scan during the work window.
  23. Thank you, and flagged. This should be fixed in the future versions. (https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/13474) Also, have you noticed any other translation issues? If so, please let us know right away.
  24. Yes, SATA cables should work on this just fine. The type of SAS is interchangeable with SATA, so you should be fine. As for ECC... It's not necessary. I'm using G.SKILL Ares RAM in my server, and it works just fine. But ECC is better, if you have the option. More stable. I'm not sure, honestly. You would need a reverse breakout cable to hook it up. THis is a question you should direct at SuperMicro, actually. They may have a better answer than "maybe" for you. yes. the "uATX" form factor of the motherboard is another way to say "Micro ATX". Or it's supposed to be. From the listed dimensions, it should work fine. Though, if you're concerned, contact Fractal Design and inquire. Yup, absolutely. I'm using a OCZ 1050W power supply for my server, actually. No issue with doing so, other than maybe a bit of a cable nightmare in my rackmount (but that may be my OCD).
  25. It very much could be doing that. Windows 8.x with OneDrive uses a special "reparse" point to map the files to the disk. Unfortunately, it looks like the Pool doesn't properly support this new type yet. So, please avoid using OneDrive on the pool until we are able to fix this issue.
