  1. No, it definitely wasn't just you. And as I said, hopefully, we can get this into DrivePool in the near future.
  2. Could you do this; http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q2159701 And could you set the "StableBit DrivePool Service"'s startup type to "Manual"? To do so, run "services.msc", and find the service. Right click on it and select "Properties. Find the "Startup type" and select "manual" from the list. After doing this, try rebooting the system and see if it behaves better. If not,, then please revert the changes (set the startup type back to "Automatic", and then do this: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Boot_Time_Log_Collection And then: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_System_Freeze
  3. Adrian, Unfortunately, we don't have a great feedback system implemented into StableBit DrivePool. This is the next big thing we are planning on changing in the product, and hopefully we will be able to do so very soon.
  4. That's pretty much dead on, actually. One of the bigger features for StableBit DrivePool is it's resilience. If the OS dies, or is reinstalled, or you change hardware, as long as the pooled drives are intact, you just need to connect them to the new system. Once the software is installed, it will see the special layout that we use, and recreate the pool automatically.
  5. Definitely. And getting everything configured right makes a big difference in performance. As for power... well, I run a small datacenter from home (I'm only half joking). Power isn't exactly cheap here, but .... we use enough that Solar was worth it. Plus, living in San Diego, it's all but necessary to run the AC a lot of the year.
  6. Well, the XBOX 360 doesn't support playbacks from network shares directly, so it relies on DLNA (UPNP) streaming. It may be that the DLNA server on the server isn't working right. Try the WSS Troubleshooer, and see if the "Media Streaming Repair" option works: http://dl.covecube.com/WssTroubleshoot/Release/download/Wss.Troubleshoot_1.0.0.165.exe I don't think it will in this case, but it's worth trying. If that doesn't work, then you may need to install something else to get this working. Serviio works very well, but Plex/Emby/etc may work well, also.
  7. @Umfriend: Yes, the X510 is basically the MediaSmart Server EX497 IIRC (Hardware is the same, so is the OS, just slightly different software). SO the IcyDock thing may work there, actually. As for the Seagate Archive drive, that's ... odd. And may be due to the controller. I've gotten 120+MB/s reliably on SATA III controllers with two of these drives. Also, something to consider: using larger cluster/allocation unit sizes for the Archive disks. It may also help with the copy speeds.
  8. Absolutely. There is a lot you can do. However, "Direct to disk" is the best option for BlueIris, regardless of the situation. It reduces CPU usage, and disk usage, in the long run. And you can export to different formats, and it will transcode at that point. ALso, the "BVR" format it uses is just uncompressed mpeg, IIRC. Also, I don't worry about the power bill, as we have solar. So running more PCs is fine for me, but not for everyone.
  9. Precisely. DrivePool can set the duplciation levels to much higher than just x2. Additionally, if a RAID5 array loses two disk, you lose EVERYTHING in the array. WIth DrivePool, you only lose what was one the disks. So if you have a lot of disks, you will still retain at least some of the data. This makes recovering data a lot easier, as you only have to replace a disk or two worth of content, instead of the entire array.
  10. Yeah, sometimes the remeasure option has issues. It is/was having issues getting hung up on problematic files. We've fixed some of those issues in the latest beta, so it should work better in the newer versions. But I'm glad to hear that you got it remeasured and duplicated properly. Just to make sure, you did enable the "Pool File Duplication" option, correct? And in the Folder Duplication window, if you see a "+" after the "x#", that indicates that a subfolder has a different level of duplication than it. As for the "Other", please take a read: http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/37-faq-unduplicated-vs-duplicated-vs-other-vs-unusable/&do=findComment&comment=3635 But basically, just because it's using a certain amount of disk space, doesn't mean that it's using the exact amount, as it may not fill each and every cluster. This is called "slack space" and is very common.
  11. Glad to hear it! It definitely sounds like the drive survived the fall intact.
  12. Well, I'm using a AMD APU (A10-6800K), dedicated for BlueIris. I chose to do this, because I'm running a LOT on my server (Xeon E3-1245v3 actually) Though, I'm using very low quality cameras (640x480 resolution, aka 0.3MP).
  13. Stop the SQL server, enable duplication and duplicate the files. Once that's done, start the service back up. We cannot duplicate files when they are locked. And by "cannot", there is no good way to do this and guarantee their integrity and ensure they're in sync, while they're in use. Once they are duplicated however, any modification should happen both all copies. This applies to virtual hard drives, as well (such as for HyperV or VMWare Workstation).
  14. Actually, no need to actually do that. While it makes things simplier, the "WSS Troubleshooter" utility will do this for you, as well: http://dl.covecube.com/WssTroubleshoot/Release/download/Wss.Troubleshoot_2.0.0.1.exe It may, but I believe the wizard is hard coded to check the 80 and 443 ports for this. I could be wrong, as it's been a long while. And a MiFi device may have the same issue, depending on the carrier you're using. However, even if the wizard errors out, just close it and it should allow you to use the site just fine. Also, everything is done over HTTPS anyways, so as long as that is working.... you're good to go, mostly. But if you want HTTP:// working, then it may be worth investing in a business plan.
  15. Well, I'm glad to hear that a repair fixed the issue! If this happens again, please do let us know. And grab these: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Log_Collection http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Service_Memory_Dump
  16. Definitely, and this is something we could streamline and integrate better. I'll bring this up to Alex.
  17. It looks like you opened a ticket for this already, to which I have responded. As for Windows 10.... just a heads up, we don't officially support it yet. As for the transfer issue, if you upgraded to the newest build, this could be why it triggered the issue... or Windows 10 is doing something that is causing issues for our software. If you continue to have issues, let us know.
  18. Alex has posted a rather detailed explanation of the issue. I'm not going to paraphrase it. https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/15571 tl;dr: Basically, NTFS usually stores it in alphabetical order. But because we're combining the list, it may screw up that order. We could fix this, but it could severely impact performance, especially with folders with a LOT of content in them (or on a slower system).
  19. Fixed in build 616. * [D] [issue #15572] Fixed crash on reparse point creation. Specifically, the bug was due to a 'bad' import of code, and some bad handling of a failed reparse point creation. Both issues are fixed, so you should be able to upgrade to it, and create them without the BSODs now. If you still do see a BSOD, please let us know.
  20. You are very welcome. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.
  21. it writes to all "required" drives. meaning to the proper number of drives for the duplication status. If realtime duplication is enabled, then it writes to all the disks in parallel. If not, then yes, it writes to one, and then moves it over later (2AM, by default). (also, I think he opened a ticket, actually )
  22. We are definitely looking into implementing something like this. And yes, it would definitely be a manually initiated process (after writing, data recovery become significantly harder). That would require a significant change to both DrivePool and Scanner. I'm not saying it won't happen, but it would be a lot of work. And it is a very good idea. Yup, definitely. Or 1's. or randomly decide. Depends on which is the best method, or if we add options on how to handle that. Well, we have the file recovery option. At worse, have users be prompted to run it BEFORE attempting to overwrite it. Or attempt to read it and if we can, then overwrite it with the original contents. So we've definitely thought about it.
  23. You've posted a ticket about this as well, and I've answered there already. However, we are definitely able to reproduce this issue, and will look into fixing this. In the meanwhile, if you need the links, then please roll back.
