sl4ppy Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 It seems the current version fails to install on my Win8 Desktop machine... I've tried every version back to 2.0.0.310_x64_beta, but alas, no dice. 0 sspell Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I'm running it on windows 8 with no problems so far only windows 7 file recovery doesn't work to the pool but other than that every thing is very good. I'm running the latest beta 2.0.0.320 64 bit Quote
0 sspell Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 try uninstalling from program features in control panel. Then go to "c:\ ProgramData" it's a hidden folder and delete the "StableBit DrivePool" folder and reinstall. It's what I would try. Quote

0 Doug Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Have you tried to re-download the program? Your log shows version 2.0.0.324 but on the download page there is only 2.0.0.320. Quote
0 sl4ppy Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 you don't have storage spaces running already do you? Just trying to help I had no problems installing it.. No, just plain ole regular drives in a standard setup. Have you tried to re-download the program? Your log shows version 2.0.0.324 but on the download page there is only 2.0.0.320. I've tried every version from .324 back to .310. protip: you can get every version, even the unofficial releases here: http://dl.covecube.com/DrivePoolWindows/beta/download/ Quote

He/they should remove access then as it's crawled by search engines and very easily searchable. As a developer myself, I know first hand if you put it out there, people *will* install it. I removed the registry key (nothing else applied to my situation) but it had no effect. I have been in touch via the normal support channels (since I own several copies and can only get it to install on 1 machine) and they have forwarded the issue on to Alex. Quote

0 Christopher (Drashna) Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Could you try uninstalling any components that did make it onto the system? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q3017479 Also: Open up Windows Explorer and navigate to %temp%. This will take you to the temp folder where the logs are saved. Sort this folder by Date modified. Take a look at the top 2 or 3 files and one of them will be the largest one. Could you grab that and attach to that a ticket via http://stablebit.com/Contact ? Quote
0 Sizzl Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Hi, Just thought I'd reply to this thread since I had the same issue (error 0x80070643). For me, it was caused by my redirecting the default location for Program Files (and Program Files (x86)) away from my C: drive using registry, under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion ProgramFilesDir - REG_SZ ProgramFilesDir (x86) - REG_SZ ProgramW6432Dir - REG_SZ I had to temporarily restore these values back to their defaults, then reboot and the Stablebit installer then worked fine. Hope this helps anyone else with similar circumstances. Quote

Hope this helps anyone else with similar circumstances. thanks, this worked for me Sizzl, Thanks for posting this. We will look into it, and see about fixing it. And if this is for 2.x, if you use the "Options" button, does it work fine? even when specifying the path, it showed the same error for me also, it would be nice if the path was prefilled with the default path Quote

I've reflagged the issue, and we'll take a look into it. https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/20828 Though, anyone having this issue, grab the "Managed Deployment" MSI installer, and see if that works better.
