  1. Thanks for the suggestion! Would you mind sending the suggstion via "http://stablebit.com/Contact/" as well?
  2. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get SMART data. The issue is that ESXi (and HyperV even) use a virtual drive (even for the passed through disks) and this driver doesn't collect and pass one the SMART data. Also, since ESXi is based on *NIX, it means there isn't anything we can really do. If you were using HyperV, you could install StableBit Scanner on that, but you'd want to disable file system and surface scans for any disks passed through. I know that's not what you want to hear, Sorry.
  3. Well, first of all, what operating system do you plan on using? This makes a difference, because the built in tools have some serious limitations (especially for WHS2011/Server 2008R2 and earlier). As well as pricing for any 3rd party software. .Also, I am guessing that you want actual backups, and not just redundancy/duplication. Also, if you do want to use robocopy, I'd recommend using the actual pool for the source path instead of a single disk, especially if you have duplication enabled. You may need to split up the tasks, but this method may be more reliable Also, you could use the "dpcmd" tool to increase the duplication count to higher than 2 (so you'd have more than 2 copies)
  4. Are these drives in the pool? If so, you may want to change the frequency in which the drives are balanced (I'd recommend "immeidately", but "no more often than every 2-3 hours". Also, Scanner may be able to help with that. And there is a thread about that here: http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/48-questions-regarding-hard-drive-spindownstandby/
  5. Yup, definitely. And yes, the same place that you input the license, you can use to later deactivate it when you want to transfer hardware. Worst case, you can contact support, and we will reset it for you (http://stablebit.com/Contact). Regards
  6. If these drives are also in the pool, it may be the balancing check that is causing this. If you want it balancing "right away", check the "no more often than every X hour". Set that to whatever you feel comfortable at (2 or 3 may be a good choice).
  7. Yes, if you are using duplication, then you absolutely need two feeder disks. Please set up two feeder disks, and then see if the Archive Optimizer is exhibiting the same results. As for the "[Rebalance] Cannot balance. Requested critical only." message, that just means that the Service believes that the pool doesn't need balancing at this time.
  8. Windows Search, or the Volume Shadow Copy service may be the culprits there. I know VSS wants to take a snapshot every 12 hours by default. Those would be the first two things to check out.
  9. If it doesn't have the "PoolPart.xxx" folder, that would be why it's not part of the pool any longer. The actual files from the pool is stored in that folder. Also, that's part of how we identify the disk as part of the pool (and to which pool). I'd recommend running data recovery on that drive/partition, and to not write anything to it until after you've done that.
  10. Check Disk Management to make sure the partition is there, and still "NTFS". If it is, check for hidden files. There should be a hidden "PoolPart.xxxx" folder there. Also, if you don't mind me asking, why do you have the drive partitioned into two parts? If you initialize the disk as "GPT", then you can create partitions larger than 2TBs without any issue. Both WHS2011 and DrivePool have absolutely no issue using GPT disks (as long as they're "basic" and formatted as NTFS).
  11. Normal, could send me your ticket number in a PM, and I'll double check on your ticket for you. And I appologize that your ticket has gone unreplied. As for the image, it looks like it may be re-measuring the pool. Also, there is a much newer build out (2.0.0.345 as opposed to 2.0.0.320). Try updating to that, and see if you still have the issue.
  12. Jon, That is definitely not supposed to happen. Would you mind grabbing the logs and opening a ticket here: http://stablebit.com/Contact http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Error_Reports (and grab the "Logs" folder when you grab the "ErrorReports" folder, as well) Regards.
  13. We don't usually push out notifications of the new beta builds the first day or so they are out. Let those that are very eager about testing get it first, then push out notifications, just in case there are issues that pop up. @p3x-749, It should have notified about a couple of different updates after that. Would you mind submitting a ticket about that? (http://stablebit.com/Contact) And worst case, you could follow Alex's twitter account for notifications about new builds (http://twitter.com/covecube)
  14. Blake, Hopefully, that fixes the issue. If not, please do contact us. (but hopefully, no more BSOD's)
  15. Glad to hear it! If you have any questions, or any issues, please ask away.
  16. Blake, the most recent version is 2.0.0.332, is that what you are running? Also, could you submit a ticket here: http://stablebit.com/Contact Also, the file that you uploaded appears to only be 0Bytes.
  17. LightsOut is a great program. It's been around since WHSv1, and those that use it absolutely love it. But like I said, it is a paid solution. But it does give you a lot more control over things than the stock windows settings.
  18. Yeah, it doesn't like to use existing folders. That is precisely what the "rebuild DrivePool Shares" option is for. It manually sets the folders to be on the pool (as well as re-adds other folders that you may have created).
  19. Yes, taking ownership may not be enough. You may also need to add users and administrators groups to the permissions. And if the file is in use, you'd need to temporarily stop the Volume Shadow Copy service to delete the file. Sorry.
  20. There isn't exactly an easy way to do this natively. However, there is an advanced config setting to create a file while it's "doing stuff". And there is an program called "LightsOut" that is hands down the best power management utilities available. And this can look for said file and prevent standby if it exists. For the "Create the file" setting: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Advanced_Settings And the setting's name is "RunningFile_FileName". Set the value to a folder and file path (such as "C:\ProgramData\StableBit DrivePool\Service\running.bin"), and then restart the service (or computer). And here is the link for LightsOut: http://homeserversoftware.com/ However, if you really don't want to get the additional software, please submit a feature request here: http:/stablebit.com/Contact
  21. Philmatic is correct. StableBit DrivePool 2.x will recognize the "old" drive pool and rebuild it. All your data should then be intact (assuming all the drives are present), and read to go. As for upgrading, the license isn't for a specific version of DrivePool. It's for the product itself. No fee or anything to upgrade. But as Philmatic suggested, since you didn't release the license on the old system, you will need to contact us to get it reset. head to http://stablebit.com/Contact/, and ideally use the email that you used to purcahse the license for DrivePool with. And then we will see about resetting it for you. Also, I'd recommend getting the "WSS Troubleshooter" utility. Use it to both "Reset NTFS permissions on the pool" option and "Rebuild DrivePool shares" option. That way, it wipes the permissions clean (so there should be no issues), and the second option will add the shared folders back to the dashboard, so you don't have to set that up manually, one folder at a time. http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Utilities
  22. Sorry, I meant that you should disable shadow copies on the Pool drive, not the drives in the pool. Worst case, you'd have to take ownership of the folder, change the permissions, and then delete the file (for the future, if this happens again). But if it's resolved, that is good.
  23. That really depends more on how FlexRAID is implemented. Installing it in a VM, it seems that FlexRAID mounts the drives to a folder path, but uses the drives "normally" otherwise. So, DrivePool and Scanner should work great with FlexRAID. Both in monitoring SMART data, and in scanning the drives for errors. I didn't do any testing out than cursory to see if it works. Just enough to see if "all the moving parts work right", and they appear to do so.
