Hi. I have found some old posts from 2017 asking this same question. Has using SAS drives with SMART data been resolved yet in the current version?

Thanks.

Not to pressure anyone on the matter ... but ... I've started replacing some aging 5TB Sata drives with 14TB SAS drives and they work great with Drivepool --- alas, the SAS drives aren't supported equally well with Scanner.

Please, take your time, and improve support for SAS drives ....  thanks a ton, love your stuff.

Just wanting to toss in my $0.02 on this.  It's definitely not so much among the consumer side of things, but there's definitely a missing data point in there.  I've noticed that HDSentinel has the ability to scan, but I'm not as big of a fan of their interface and it doesn't integrate with drivepool.

I appreciate all the work that's been going into StableBit tools, but I'd really love to see this, even if it was sold as an additional license, an extra $10 for SAS integration or something...

Sorry, yeah, still not supported.  Since it's not as much of a consumer tech, it hasn't been a priority.

But yeah, I do agree, SAS support would be amazing.

I wonder, is this something that could be implemented by means of a plugin at all? Or does the API not expose/allow things at that level? If it can, then perhaps a community led solution might be possible, with a little guidance?

I agree with you all.  SAS information would be amazing.  Especially as I have a 36 bay server chassis with an LSI SAS controller.

However, our focus is on consumer technologies.  So that is where our time and effort is spent.

That said, once StableBit Cloud is finalized, I do plan on pushing for SAS support. Especially as NAS and enterprise drives are getting fairly close in price, anymore.

Any word on this yet?

Agreed, please do include SAS. I was quite surprised (and disappointed) after buying my first set of SAS drives and finding that my StableBit stuff can't see much about them.

Hi everybody,

thanks a lot for clarification! And I was wondering why the heck StableBit Scanner wouldn't show any S.M.A.R.T. information from my SAS drives connected via an HBA LSI 9400 card. Never had an issue with SATA drives.

Well, OK then, now you have another supporter to include SAS drives. Also, I am willing to pay an extra $ for this feature.

Thank you!

By the way, I love your products! Especially the scanner used to give me peace of mind. And the drive pool is excellently easy to handle.

Keep up the great work!!!

Cheers,

Fridun

Definitely hoping to see this feature also. It certainly was disappointing to find that SAS drives aren't handled in Scanner. It really does make a ton of sense for those using SAS Controllers, which is pretty much a given if you have more drives than SATA ports on a typical motherboard...

Another vote for this please.

My pool now has about half and half SATA and SAS drives, and it would be really valuable to be able to get S.M.A.R.T. information from the SAS drives. I understand the point about wanting to support the more common SATA drives first, but lots of users must also have SAS drives in their pools.

I wonder if the availability of inexpensive HBA controllers like 9305, 9400 etc has made SAS more accessible.  I recently bought 3 Seagate SAS drives cheap (Boo Seagate) and was sad that Stablebit Scanner didn't read SAS SMART data. So I too, would request that this feature be added. That being said, it isn't a deal breaker for me I really like the Stable bit suite.

In the meantime, has anyone found a good alternative  to monitor SAS SMART data?
