Japanese Translation does not work

ToooN

Question

Hello. I'm installed 'Stablebit Drivepool ver 2.3.8.1600x64' in Windows 11 Pro.
I am using Windows 11 Pro (23H2 Build 22631.4317) in a Japanese environment and the Stablebit Drivepool started up in English.
How do I activate it in Japanese language?

# RELATED QUESTION
Please refer to the attached image. This XML file is immediately after installation.
I opened the 'DrivePool.Service.exe.default.config' file and the value on line 191 seems wrong. Is this correct?

<setting name="Drivepool_CultureOverride"serializeAs="String">
  <value/>

I rewrite the XML file as follows However. But it was not translated into Japanese.

<setting name="DrivePool_CultureOverride" serializeAs="String">
    <value>ja</value>
</setting>

Hi ToooN, try also editing the section of the 'Settings.json' file as below, then close the GUI, restart the StableBit DrivePool service and re-open the GUI?

'C:\ProgramData\StableBit DrivePool\Service\Settings.json'

  "DrivePool_CultureOverride": {
    "Default": "",
    "Override": null

to

  "DrivePool_CultureOverride": {
    "Default": "",
    "Override": "ja"

I'm not sure if "ja" needs to be in quotes or not in the Settings.json file. Hope this helps!

If it still doesn't change you may need to open a support ticket directly so StableBit can investigate.

RESULT: Failed. Unable to start at Japanese language.

Hi Shane. I appreciate your reply.☺️
I wasn't aware that I needed to make edits in the C\ProgramData folder. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

I edited 'C\ProgramData\StableBit DrivePool\Service\Settings.json'. But it started up in English language.
I tried multiple patterns of quotation marks.
I did the same operation on another PC, with unsuccessful results.

I'm not sure yet whether the issue lies with my PC environment or with the software itself.
I plan to set up different & old versions of the OS and Stablebit Drivepool to test and verify the problem, and I intend to record a video of the process.
I intend to ask for a support ticket later. If anyone knows anything about this, please send me the information.

# OFF TIPIC
In the Japanese community, there is software called VVAULT that is similar to Stablebit Drivepool.
However, VVAULT's personal user license service ended 2024 year.
Perhaps because many Japanese users used VVAULT, there is very little information in Japanese about Stablebit Drivepool.
Google Searching around, I can only find blog posts written in 2015 and 2017.
I hope more users will use Stablebit series.

RESULT: Able to implement Japanese localization by upgrading from an older version.

Progress report.
Installed from StableBit.DrivePool_2.2.0.905_x64_Release.exe. It was successfully converted to Japanese.
The notification bar announced “Do you want to update to ver2.3.5.1557?” I selected “OK” and updated the software.
After updating to ver2.3.5.1557, it is still in Japanese language.
It's Success.

Once I uninstalled everything and then installed StableBit.DrivePool_2.3.8.1600_x64_Release, it installed in English.
Japanese translation does not work.

I have to go out now, so I will check the rest later.
That's all I have to report.

RESULT: ver 2.3.7 Success, ver 2.3.8 later Failure.

I did a verification experiment.

Japanese language translation works for 2.3.7.1570.
For 2.3.8.1600 and later, translation does not work.

# WORK PROCEDURE MOVIE
This is a video recording of the entire work procedure.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMRlIBUldkk

# STEPS
1. launch Windows 11 Sandbox
2. run the batch file and set to Japanese.

powershell Set-WinUserLanguageList -Force ja-JP
powershell Restart-Computer

3. Install Stablebit Drivepool older version.

Is this an issue with my environment? Or is there a problem with the Stablebit Drivepool?

Some permanent configuration is being saved:

I have installed version 11.4077 after uninstalling and restarting the computer but it does not change the language and remains in English.

When I uninstalled version 11 to reinstall it after rebooting, I also reset the application settings.

I have decided to uninstall version 11 and reinstall the first version that I installed a few weeks ago: 2.6.3.3969 and now it also appears in English.

I need to delete o modify any file o registry value after uninstalling?

Thanks!!

Yes. Stablebit Scanner only.

Drivepool fixed with update.

I just installed Scanner for the first time on another computer, version 2.6.3.3969 and it is in English.

I'm sorry. I remembered using it in Spanish. I started using both programs at the same time and that probably made me think that both were translated because I updated the programs two days later.

Thank you for your work and congratulations on the programs because they are excellent.

No worries.

And StableBit Scanner should be translated, as well.  If it's not, make sure that you're using this version, specifically:
https://dl.covecube.com/ScannerWindows/release/download/StableBit.Scanner_2.6.11.4077_Release.exe

No. Only English. I tried 2 methods:

 - Uninstall and reinstall Stablebit Scanner.

- Install in a clean virtual machine.
