Question

I see a lot of questions about having all the files on certain drives but is there any way to have drivepool split directories into as many drives as possible (for performance reasons)?

So for example, if you have a folder with 100 files of equal size and you have 10 drives, it would try to balance 10% on each drive?

The only ways I can think of to do that would be to #1, have a pool exclusively for just those drives and that folder (whether by itself or as part of a bigger pool), #2 use File Placement and allow only that folder to use those drives (and I'm not sure if the disk space balancing algorithm is smart enough to figure out what you want from that), or #3 turn off automatic balancing and manually spread the files in that folder across the poolparts of those disks yourself.

I mean, by default, it kind of tries to do this.  New files are placed on the disk with the most available free space. If you have multiple disks with the same amount of free space, it should kind of round robin the placement (though this heavily depends on the file sizes).
