How do I turn off duplication?

Stuff like this makes me ill.

 

Duplication shows as being off but yet I have 2.08 of duplicated data in my pool. I don't want any duplicated data and I can't see how to turn this off and reclaim the space.

First, relax ;-). 2nd, what OS and version of DP do you run? 3rd, 2.08 of what, KB, MB, GB, TB? Have you ever had duplication on this system?

Sorry for the lack of info.

 

1. OS = Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter

 

2. Version = 2.1.1.561

 

3. It WAS 2.08 TB.

 

I think I know what might have happened. Some of the drives in the pool were previously in another pool that must have been dupped at one time. When I just went back and checked I got a dup mismatch warning with the option to delete older file parts. Dupped files are now down to 1.39mb.

Well, re-adding old pool drives will do that!

 

And glad to hear that you were able to resolve it, and get it down to a reasonable size! 

 

As for the remaining 1.39MBs, there will always be a bit of duplicated data on the 2.X version because we store some metadata on the pool (namely, info about the reparse points), and this is set to x3 duplication. So that is a very normal amount, and nothing to worry about,. now.
