  1. Then you want the "SSD Optimizer". Yes, it says "SSD", but you can use any disk for the feeder/landing zone disk. Also, if you do install it, disable the Ordered File Placement balancer, as the two balancers interfere with each other. However, the SSD Optimizer has the option to do the Ordered File Placement stuff, as this was the only good solution we found to fix the said interference. https://stablebit.com/DrivePool/Plugins
  2. DVD Fab can rip to about any format, IIRC. That includes WMV's and MKV. IIRC, MyMovies can do the same, as well. (albeit, it aims to be more "headless", IIRC). And it uses AnyDVD HD, IIRC. But to be honest, I have found that everyone has an answer here. Try some of the suggestions here, and see what you like using the best.
  3. Ah, if that's the case, then it was still installed in the dashboard, under the "Add-in's" tab. At least, that's my guess. Either way, I'm glad to hear that it installed finally, and you got it up and running.
  4. Well, either way should work just fine. And it sounds like you didn't have too much data (under 500GBs, I'd guess). If you need anything else or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
  5. We haven't done extensive testing at all with either version of Windows 10's Technical Preview. However, we have done some testing, and it appears that both products run file on Windows 10 (server and client). But as I said, we haven't done extensive testing to be sure. Also, since WIndows 10 is nowhere near feature complete yet, it's still possible for drastic change. We'd rather wait til it's closer to release to test, as there won't be so many code changes then.
  6. The metadata folder is ".covefs", and the only place you'll see it is in the PoolPart folders. However, once you've rebooted the system, it should recreate the folder automatically. Also, if you're making use of reparse points on the pool, you do not want to delete these folders, as that data is stored there.
  7. If it's just the x1+ at the top of the list, then you should be fine here. Specifically, there is a "super hidden" folder here that has x3 duplication. This folder is used for pool metadata.
  8. (moved), And yes, in this case, you'd need to stop the MySQL service long enough to create the last copy. Once that's done, it won't be a problem. But we won't/can't copy a file that is open and in use.
  9. I was afraid of that.... Download the "installed" version (that you used last). Make sure it's the WSSX version, and copy it to the server. Rename it from ".WSSX" to ".CAB". You should be able to extract the files from it. Grab the MSI file from there, and attempt to do the "Uninstall" option from it. If that doesn't work, it may require digging into the registry and removing the "uninstall" information.
  10. Welcome! And yes, we absolutely have a pretty simple way to migrate existing data to the pool: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q4142489 Since this is done "per drive" and moving the data to a different location on the same physical disks, the entire process should take you between 20 and 45 minutes (depending on how much data and how many disks you have). If you're not sure about the process, we can set up a remote support session to do this for you (Just PM me or contact us at https://stablebit.com/Contact)
  11. Unfortunately, it does look like Windows 8 (and 8.1, specifically) does something "weird" with the OneDrive folders that StableBit DrivePool doesn't support. And we can definitely reproduce the issue. I've flagged the issue for Alex, and we'll look into the issue. https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/13421
  12. Where is showing the information from? As for most info like this, restarting the service (via "services.msc") is a good way to forcibly refresh disk information. As for the copy priority, we do have a couple of options for that, depending on what version of StableBit DrivePool you're using. For version 1.X: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Advanced_Settings For version 2.X http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Advanced_Settings Set FileBalance_BackgroundIO to "True" and it should help. Alternatively, the UI has an option to boost the priority for certain tasks, on the fly. At least in Version 2.X
  13. That's odd. StableBit Scanner should automatically refresh the data. Could you grab the error reports from the system, just in case? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_Scanner_for_Windows_Error_Reports Also, the easiest way to force it to refresh the data is to restart the StableBit Scanner service. Run "services.msc" to do so.
  14. Unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce the issue that you saw. However, with DiskCryptor, every reboot caused the drives to show up as "RAW" and required "mounting" them manually. Every reboot. With and without StableBit Scanner installed. Though, I didn't enable the auto-mount option (nor did I really see one). And StableBit Scanner shouldn't be doing anything that should impact DiskCryptor. It makes SMART queries and reads the disk infomation. This shouldn't trigger any issues here. But once every 30 days (by default) it does the surface scan. But this isn't file system aware... It scans each sector and makes sure it's readable.
  15. I'm glad to hear that everything turned out okay! If the data on the SSD is still showing up as "Other", try remeasuring the pool. It may fix the issue.
  16. Lino, First, thank you for your interest in our product! As for purchasing licenses, you absolutely can buy 2-3 at once. If you find the single license for StableBit DrivePool (the second item on this page: https://stablebit.com/Buy/Drivepool), notice the "x1 change" section in the top, left corner of the panel? Click on the "Change" link, and you can set this to any number between 1 and 10. Additionally, once you've purchased the license, you can purchase additional licenses by using the Order Completion page. It will have a links that say "Click here to purchase additional licenses at a discount". As for reinstalling the OS, that's not a problem at all. In fact, we recommend that you disable the license prior to reinstalling. Then you can activate it on the new installation without any issues. Otherwise, just let us know, and we'll deactivate the license on our end. (https://stablebit.com/Contact) And in case this is important, you don't need a license to remotely connect to the system. You only need a license for systems that you plan on running a pool on.
  17. http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_Scanner_Q8964978B That's instructions on how to completely remove StableBit Scanner from the system. If that doens't work, then try this: StableBit.Scanner_2.5.1.3062_Release.msi Download it and copy it to the server. On the server, right click on the file and select "Uninstall". Once that's finished, do so again, just to make sure.
  18. Yes, definitely. Unfortunately, since we are a small software vender, some antivirus scanners may be overzealous and scan our flags as "malicious". Ironically, this usually happens with StableBit Scanner, but it does happen with StableBit DrivePool occasionally, as well. So we recommend excluding both folders, just in case.
  19. The Temperature Equalization is a normal thing. Specifically, we try to avoid scanning a disk if it's significantly warmer than other drives in the system. This is to prevent "hot spots" from occurring in your system. You can disable this, or change the threshold in the Scanner Settings, under the "Heat" tab.
  20. I don't know, I'm using a 1050W, 80+ Platinum power supply for my server. But it's a Xeon E3, with 14 HDDs attached, ATM. But yeah, ..... But getting a power supply that can handle all those connections without splitters? It's worth it in my opinion. But I'm slightly OCD.
  21. Spinman, Select the drive, and look at the bottom of the Window. It should be listing the information there as well. But I'm assuming that you mean so that it shows it in one of the columns for for the disks?
  22. Unfortunately, we do run into this issue periodically. And other than sending a false positive report, and hoping that hte files gets removed from the list ...... If you exclude the entire StableBit Scanner (and StableBit DrivePool) program folder, it should help. Specifically: "C:\Program Files (x86)\StableBit\Scanner", "C:\Program Files\StableBit\Scanner", and "C:\Program Files\StableBit\DrivePool".
  23. Well, the 2.X version sets the volume as NTFS by default. So if you want to use that version, it would be the simplest way. Just uninstall the current version, reboot, install the 2.X version and reboot again. Then it should work fine.
  24. No, there shouldn't be any interaction between the two products. They should work fine. Specifically StableBit Scanner will throttle (or stop) scans if the disk is being accessed. It is possible that there is an interactin between the surface scanner, and how DiskCryptor works. Aside for installing both, encrypting a disk and letting it sit... are you able to force this to happen?
  25. Well, newegg has a few options, though. But they're all in the $200-300, if that's important. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%20600158678%20600053808&IsNodeId=1&name=16
