  1. darkly Are you using Sonarr with PLEX? If you are, Go into Sonarr and assign a Recycling Bin in Settings (Advanced Settings Shown) At the bottom. I had that problem also. Was confused and thought the same thing. Sometimes Sonarr was bad for that by replacing a good file with a bad one. If not, I have used Cloud with DrivePool and missed a setting and had my files uploaded to the Cloud. When I disconnected, I was panicking when Sonarr and Plex found holes showing the file unavailable. It was because Drivepool was set wrong. You have to ensure in the Balancing area that the Clouddrive will only store Duplicated files. You must (MUST) uncheck the Unduplicated block for the cloud drive if you want Sonarr and Plex to behave....
  2. I understand your concern also. When the drive starts reallocating sectors it just makes the drive work twice as hard and the duty time goes down greatly. I remember when you could lock out sectors and whole rows of a drive before partitioning and the drive would work great for years. The problem is our technology has gotten too good for the equipment. Drives are working tighter tolerances and the control has been taken away from the users hands. Now you have drives with the electronics on controlling the information, handshakes, syncing, and a whole lot more. A document could be held on a floppy drive and a program on a cd. Now you are with USB Thumb drives and DVD Drives. Hard drives that hold Terabytes instead of Megabytes. I feel just the way you do about thowing away drives. Here is what I do. I pull the drive, I run Spinrite by Steve Gibson on it. It then lets me know what the full health of the drive is. I then mate it with an old external drive enclosure I can use. I partition the drive into many parts around the known bad spots. I format the partitions. Load the drive with some data I want to save. Two or three copies with Drive Pool and then disconnect the drive an place it in storage with a detailed Directory of what is on the drive. On one wants to throw away drives that don't work anymore but I can tell you that you can get lost in time spending too much time fighting a lost cause. If a drive is showing more reallocated sectors all of the time. It is not the coating on the disk that is bad but the electronics is getting weaker and you might lose the drive with all of IMPORTANT data before you know it. Don't like to mention it on some boards because it can create arguments but S.M.A.R.T. was created (I believe) as a timer to kill Hard drives. Why would you let a drive power down or park a head if you know that counter would shut the drive down at a certain count. Why? to make you buy heavy duty and high priced drives for long term use. Also, I have bought NAS Reds that have lasted less than USB Backup drives. Just for someones history info. A long time ago. HP made a Data Tape backup drive with a 20 MB Hard drive in it as a cache. The military had procured a ton of them. Over a very short time, The tape drives got replaced with Floppy and cartridge. When the DataTape drives were scrapped, I found out about the hard drives. I bought lots of them from the DRMO. I pulled the drives, ran tests on them and sold them for a profit. At the time Drives were going for $10.00 per Meg. I had hundreds. Here is the answer for you. If the drive is in an external enclosure. Pull the drive. Place it inside a computer with the proper connection. Sata Pata IDE. Start a program like Spinrite and look at all the information. If the drive checks out green and clean. Have the drive run a wipe or two and rescan. If it is still showing healthy. Re-purpose the drive if they duty life is half. If the drive is in a computer. Do the opposite.. If the drive sector rates go up and you have another drive the same type and size with a spin up problem, You can try to replace the board. It is all that you are willing to do. If too much of your time is consumed, you do feel it is worth it.
  3. Just did the Passport 0830 on Slow Format. It hasn't finished but on the Tiny setting, I see no failures. I do know that it has to go thru all of the drive first to clean out the errors from the last scan so will wait. Well It still showed failed on the last largest number block. Seems the scanner starts there and moves to the lowest. Don't know what to say. Sorry. I am ignoring the warnings because I don't think the scanner is reading them right but it is working for the better part.
  4. How about a question on the same topic. Do you think because the Fast Format is like the expanding cache for the Cloud Drive and the end part of the format is not fixed?
  5. v 2.5.2.3103 I had upgraded to the Beta version. Until then I didn't have too much problems with damaged. Just the system would voice over SMART or Previous Overheat. Everything is still working just the drive shows Damaged. When you open the window up for the data scan screen, the Lower Right hand corner reports a bad block.
  6. Maybe I am talking out of turn for you but have you looked at these https://www.amazon.com/Stanley-655704-Velocity-Blower-Yellow/dp/B006O6FA22/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1506448982&sr=8-22&keywords=fan I had one like it and I used it on my server a while back in the Navy To me, it was easier because I could place a filter on the front of the nozzle and insert it into the vent at the bottom of my rack. This pushed a lot of air at a very low noise level. I had used a 2 inch plastic pipe that I bought from the hardware store with t-fittings to make an air manifold for each section. Do not use glue and it will be able to be taken apart if needed. I suggest pipe clamps or zip ties. I have air conditioner that is louder than it. Just check the filter once a month Forgot to mention. Use it on the lowest you can handle. Just helping.
  7. Verified. If you slow Format the Drive. Stablebit Scanner has no problem with the last sector problem. It seems to only be a Fast format problem. Tried it with the 0820 and 25E2. Am currently running chkdsk with /f parameter Question: Could this be an easier Fix. Most admins have and use programs like partition wizards instead of messing with the OS data management Would it be better to shrink the partition down 1 on both sides to set up a buffer between stops. Pretty much the way windows sets that blasted 100M partition in front of the OS when installing Win 7 on up. I read somewhere they did that to stop the Hard drives from beating up the Sector 0. Shame the Hard Drive People didn't read that also. Sounds really solid and I know it can create havoc on HD tables for large arrays. Just a thought. Making me rethink about a new HD before I put it into service and get caught up chasing my tail.
  8. The Scanner is now telling me that half of my drives are Damaged. Most are at the last sector of the scan. Drives are as follows. Western Digital My Passport 0820 & 0830 - 2TB WDC WD20NMVW-11AV3S2 & WDC WD20NMVW-59AV3S3 Western Digital My Passport 25E2 WDC WD40NMZW-11GX6S1 Seagate USB Model: ST1000LM010-9YH146 1TB Like was said. All seem to show damaged but it is the last sector on the drive. If I remove the drive an do a slow format. The problem goes away but I haven't taken enough time to see if it stays away and some drives can take up to 12 hours to format. Hope this helps. Using latest Beta Scanner.
  9. At the present. When you need to kill off upload, you need to clear cache and let system recover. found that out by trying to be careless and having too much waiting to upload. BTW. Bandwidth Cap control is also best kept in router and modem control. I am looking into using several guest modems for cloud uploads.
  10. I am raising my hand also. I do know that we can go into the I/O performance and change the settings there but I am scared to mess with them anymore. I have lost data in the cloud before. For those people that read this thread. In the 1.0.2.929 BETA version. Manage Drive ->I/O performance-> If you run a speed test without the cloud connected or updating, You can adjust the Download Throttling Feature and Upload throttling Feature Here At times I need to use the system, I have it at 50% of the speed test. Works fine.
  11. I did the same thing. found the problem rather quickly. 1. I have the same type of account. 256TB 2. Set your Local Size to 10GB and your Cloud drive to 10TB at first. Create a new drive when filled or enlarge later. 3. Set your Threads to 1 per Megabyte Up to 3/4 of your max upload. Mine is 20 Max for 25MB upload This will allow the chunks to go up complete. Too big and the transfer cuts the excess but counts the retries in the total. Since this is not a true science but helpful experimentation because each way is different My ISP is placing a Bandwidth Usage Cap effective next month on all personal accounts. 1 TB per account My Business Account will not be affected but is on the lowest speed. I am just like Dijnn. I wanted PLEX in the cloud but my ISP is constantly squeezing us off the net unless you pay thru the nose. I have spent a small fortune in new external drives to backup my TV Series because of this. Most of them are on my wall in the form of DVDs,VHS, and old 3.5 Floppy disks. Years of ripping and collecting have gone into this and I have lost the digital copies at least twice. My most favorite programs are StableBit Pool Drive and HandBrake/AnyDVD Hopefully CloudDrive will be there also.
  12. I had moved to the Beta Version Once but for some reason, My system or the program eat all of my system. Not blaming the program, It could have been me, Bad time in my life.
  13. I find if I remeasure after I move then the system updates. I also make sure my rules apply to the drive in question. If I move a file off of the drive that does not have a rule for that folder. the system catches me on it and moves it according to the rule.. As you said Chris. It seems simple but even the admins can complicate it to the point the system gets mad. Once a month I rotate a drive thru my Pool to ensure my data is not lost using your system. I love it because it works. No fuss no muss. I have created a DP of 30TB Gross with 22.1TB used. My largest drive is 4TB USB. All I do is plug the cleaned drive into the system. Tell DP to use it and assign the same Rules to the New drive as the one I want to swap out. Your system starts the migration keeping permission active and when it finishes, I disconnect the old drive and move on. The only problem I have is not software related. My Drobo goes offline for a moment. The USB dissconnects, DP sees that. Waits then remeasures as soon as it comes online again. Can't take it down until I get a new replacement but It works. As I said. DP is there working better than a person could want.
  14. There is a feature in DrivePool that I have found very useful in your particular question. In Balancing Option -> File Placement. New Drives. If you and when you add the new drive, You must tell DB to use the new drive or not to. You can have a drive that holds only the folders you want to on that drive. Set up a rule and it will happen. Exclude the cloud drive from DP and the 2 stay separate and only the folders assigned to the cloud drive go on the cloud drive. I found this works great. Also, A bug I found has a great workaround here. If for any reason you need to remove a drive. IE a number of things but for Just saying. If you use the remove on the main screen, your read and write permissions to all of you pool is suspended until the drive is completely emptied. I found this to be annoying if you have a very large Drive Pool. Mine is 25TB with a lot of searches going on all the time. If a drive is acting flaky. Add a new drive and check the New drive box and then uncheck the drive you want to empty. The balancing portion of DP will remove the drive while keeping all of the permissions active. And for the record. I don't fully know why but it works and I am not going to complain. DP is a great software and I have license for it all and love it. I have tried windows fat drive feature and but still love DP. I have gone a far as removing a drive and Cloning the bad drive to a new one. DP recognized the new drive as part of itself. Went in and self healed itself will little or no intervention by myself. Let's see Windows do that. Also, I have read in this forum that Nobody want to spend money on an obsolete program. If you want to give it up. Then I hope you luck. You could ask for better help when needed. I have been using Version 2.1.1.561 until the crew moves it up. if a bug is known, and you can contain it. It is not a bug, It is a limited feature. Maybe that is why Windows is so F***ed up. Too many tweaking for features not everyone used. The only addition to this software collection I personally would love is a plugin that would give us the file explorer features to the pool per drive when troubleshooting. When you have 10 drives in the system and none of them has a drive designation because it would complicate your regular file explorer, when you have a problem drive, Such as USB instability, you have to reboot with drives, hunt down the problem and then revert back. Happened to me with my Drobo but thats another story.
  15. Glad you finally got thru yours. How about if they put you on the table, Cut you open, root around for about 10 minutes and then sew you back up. Wake you back up and tell you they can't take your gallbladder. Don't give you a reason but CAN'T. Then later you find out that the ulcer you had was causing the problem because it was at the lowest part of your stomach close to where your bile duct is. It's been so long since then, I didn't want to talk about it. It's been over 6 years now and I haven't had a great meal yet. Count your blessings. Not everyone that cuts you open is a great doctor. They play the laws of averages also. If they make a mistake, their insurance pays for it. The patent just dies.
  16. Dear Chris, I found this on ebay of all places. It has a few hurdles to cross and I was surprized when I saw it. You may want to check it out yourself but I would like to know if it can be intergrated in the Cloudrive feature. Sorry but most of the PC client is in Chinese but there are a few tutorials to help secure the account for your self. I guess you must patient and take it one step a time. From what I have gathered, you buy the service from another person for the sum of $25.00 US. They issue a website and a username and a password. I am making a little tutorial also but it is very slow. They make the following suggestions to follow to ensure the Cloud changes the hands properly. 1. Logon to their site using the information they give in the email. This is important. I shows that the Cloud is looking legit 2. Follow the PDF to verify your email account on AOL.COM. You need this just like they gave it to you to ensure your 360 42TB will be validated properly 3. The validate the 360 42TB GoCloud using the newly verified account 4. Try because it is hard to follow any type of verification, I suggest you use your phone as part of the 2 step until you get it online. Calling for Phone service might prove too hard as this server is in China 5 Once you have everything verfied, I SUGGEST AT LEAST CHANGING THE PASSWORD FIRST. Follow the verifications steps carefully for password. Wait a few days then try to change the USENAME for both the email client and the cloud. I firmly suggest you do the email user name first, the the 360 GoCloud Until you do that I would Trust No One 42TB Permanent Cloud Drive for Online Storage and Sync They have several ways to get to the Cloud Drive. By website - with Userid and Password. Inerface is a little hard to use but looks like the one used by Onedrive They have a PC client version that reminded me of Pogoplug It would be great if we could have a way to create the cloud service as a virtual drive Hope This raises some chatter. I want to encrypt the file transfer but I want to get it as a drive I can trust first. I could then use something like Dropbox to upload in managable chunks to keep the big GoCloud clean and no cluttered.
  17. Found the problem ... Thought you would like to hear the solution. Problem was with an Sata Drive that WAS NOT part of the pool but was being monitored by the scanner. Once i unloaded the scanner and removed the SATA drive that was not part of the pool. The system responded. The way I found it out was Windows 10 made me reboot my system to chkdsk the suspect drive. When it tried to finish, Windows could not remount the drive. I pulled it and the system came up with no problems. I suggest that you write something into the service that allows it to bypass all drives not included into the pool. Allow you to press a button if you want to add drives to the pool. Seems safer than making all drives queued up as Drivepool even looks at USB thumbdrives as acceptable. Just a thought
  18. This just happened with the last Windows 10 update. Unsure what to do. Not wanting to rock the apple cart unless I need to. DrivePool is working. Shows files and no longer locks after I had to remove each drive. Pull all data from them. Re-low level format and Place them back in. As I say, DrivePool is up and running fine but now when I try to see the status of drives to add or remove. It says cannot connect to service. Rebooted system No Joy. Since I can still see the drives fully, I am moving all my movies and TV shows off the system for safety reasons. I have been using my server with drivepool as a Media Server like the one made on www.cuttingcords.com . Seems all indexers and torrent servers are going offline and even VPN service is flakey. Because 27 TB is contained on 14 Drives, I cannot estimate when I will be able to mess with the system. This can turn into a real nightmare and I can loose all my data. Will hopefully have an answer some time in the future but this is scary. I even pulled all the drivepool drives offline for a reboot. Nothing. When I reconnected them back and rebooted. I got drivepool online but still unable to connect to service. Even tried to use the scanner to reset the system. That is why I know the drivepool is online because the scanner can see the drives. I something has happened in Windows 10 to cause this, I am happy that you will take a look into it. If it keeps someone else from freaking out I am happy.
  19. Have to report that when my system was forced to upgrade. Microsoft's sneaky upgrade. My system started doing the same thing as IAN. I pulled the system down to board and it still kept giving a Hard Drive was disconnected. I then folled your advice Chris and it still says the same thing. It had me kill my system for nothing. I am at a loss but one thing has come out of it. It gives me a reason to replace my case.
