SMART Data not showing on H310 in IT mode.

Question

Hello!

I am having a problem with SMART data not being shown for my drives in the Scanner.

Relevant Setup:

  • CHASSIS: Supermicro 3u 16-bay
  • DRIVES: 16x ST33000650SS 3TB SAS
  • HBA: 2x H310 RAID cards flashed to IT mode.
  • OS: Windows Server 2019 Datacenter

Completed Troubleshooting Steps:

  1. Used smartctl in order to look at SMART data -- smartctl is able to see it without problems.
  2. Enabled DirectIO.Unsafe option. I saw that other users were having a similar problem on this forum. Even after a system restart, this was unsuccessful.

Let me know if you have any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue or if you require more information.

Make sure that you're using the latest version of the firmware.  IIRC, it's a LSI SAS 2008 chip.  If it's is, the P20 is the latest.  Update to that, and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help, try running the StableBit Troubleshooter:

I am facing the same issue.

System Specs:

  • Dell R720xd
  • Server 2019 DataCenter
  • 2x Dell H200e controllers
  • Netapp DS4486
  • Drives are mix of 8TB, 4TB, and 2TB

Controllers are running latest firmware. Stablebit Scanner will not pull SMART data from any drive. When attempting to "Show S.M.A.R.T..."  in StableBit Scanner the following message is displayed: "Using non-manufacturer specific interpretation rules."

Running smartctl will pull SCSI and ATA SMART data without issue (example of disk 17 shown):
