Is drivepool still under development ?

Question

Hello,

I m trying it right now after being disappointed by space storages lack of easy customization. I will use snapraid along with drivepool, for info.

My concern is more about the project being still in developpement or getting abandonned progressivly by its author, as i have seen very few communications (not to say none …) about incoming features or bugs being fixed / improvements.

Yup, it is.

However, we've gotten to the point that releases aren't too often, since a majority of bugs have been found and squashed.   Mostly, it's weird edge cases that pop up, or adding new features/integration with newer products.

For example realtime parity!

Not quite real-time parity, but it's possible to trigger SnapRAID each time Drivepool balances with some clever scripting.

I documented getting it set up, here.

I gave up on SnapRAID. It's too finicky for changed files. And most features with DrivePool require automatic balancing enabled, which can limit the effectiveness of SnapRAID. If you basically store data and rarely ever add new or change existing, it's fine. Otherwise, not really an option.

It would be really nice for DrivePool to have some sort of background hash check with generated log that you can compare with backups would be great. It could even run during idle times like when duplication or balancing happens.
