Question

I was wondering if anyone had any optimized Clouddrive Drive settings that they use to get the most out of plex streaming.

Like chunk size, download threads, and prefetching options.

I use google drive to stream plex from. I have fios 150/150 internet.

100mb chunk size

20 download/upload threads

Prefetch: Trigger-1mb, forward-100mb, window-600sec (also have used 50mb forward and 300sec window with no problems)

20GB cache size

This setup works well for me

I got 20 MB chunks (Google Drive limit, would have wanted 100 MB) and 20 download threads.

1 MB trigger and 400 MB forward (20x 20 MB) got a long window of 1500 to allow for pause and rewinding :)

Got 500 GB SSD as Cache

In general the optimal settings depends on your connection speed. In my case it is 1 gbit/1gbit

Even if you disabled prefetching all together, shouldn't plex media server handle the buffer optimally as it does on your network over over the internet?  It just seems like Plex knows the bandwidth it will need and it should be sufficient to keep up unless im missing something?

The problem is Plex thinks that the media is stored locally on the computer, so it does not know to buffer. So you have to configure prefetching to download enough data to enjoy a full length movie without buffering. Essentially, you tell Stablebit if a program requires more then > 1 MB then prefetch xx amount of data for me.
