[Possible Bug] Label change on drive

Hi,

 

Today i created a drive and forgot to change the label. So i detached and reattached with a new label - however after the reattach the old name stuck on the drive, but the new one shows in the stablebit ui

 

Might be a bug or just bad luck :-D

Where are you changing the label specifically?

 

In Windows, or?

on a windows 10 machine.

 

changed the name while attaching to be different than the one it was made with originally

of course in the stablebit UI on .444 at a windows machine. label in explorer shows the old name while stablebit says the name i desired. seems as some info didnt get saved - minor thing but labels are great with several drives

google drive provider

 

 

1. create drive with google drive, keep original name

2. detach the drive

3.reattach the drive and change drive name

4. drive in windows says the old label while stablebit ui says the new

Okay, I'm pretty sure this is "by design".

 

Specifically, the volume label on the drive is created based on the original disk name. Since this is a file system setting, specifically, it's not changed when the local name in StableBit CloudDrive is changed.

 

Confusing yes, but I've flagged it for Alex, just in case.

I can just rename the drives myself, however just seemed weird, as a name change makes no difference then

Yup, seems kind of weird.

 

However, there are cases where this makes sense. For instance, if you have multiple volumes/partitions on the single disk. Changing the label doesn't make sense in this case.

 

However, if it's the only partition/volume, then it would make sense to update it.

I don't know if you saw, but it looks like Alex has added code to enable synchronization between the volume label (in the OS) and the label in the UI.
