Need help to backup pool to USB storage

chrisnasah

Question

Hi,

So currently i have 1.5TB worth of data which is being duplicated hence using 3TB worth of storage.

I have just purchased a USB external storage 5TB and hoping to backup the pool and the C drive of the server.

Is it possible to backup the pool using windows server 2012 backup utility and only backup one copy and not duplicates hence not using up the storage?

Any suggestions on how I could go about doing the backups?

Thanks

While it's meant for WHS2011 and DrivePool 1.X, everything still applies here:

http://stablebit.com/Support/DrivePool/1.X/Manual?Section=Using%20Server%20Backup%20to%20Backup%20the%20Pool

If you're only using 2 disks for the storage, and everything is duplicated, then you would only need to backup one of the disks.

Otherwise, using something like Free File Sync, Allway Sync, or the like may be a better solution to backup the pooled data.
