GiuseppeChillemi Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hi, is there a way to have duplication on a different PC ? It would be good to have a "backup" NAS somewhere, either via LAN or via Internet (VPN) Regards, Giuseppe Chillemi Quote
0 GavinCampbell Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 If you look at crashplan you can set up the free version to backup up via lan or internet to another pc. this may accomplish what you are looking to do. Quote
0 Christopher (Drashna) Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 No, at this time, there isn't a good way to do this. The "best" way, if you have a NAS that supports it is "iSCSI". It works over the network, but presents a virtual physical disk. This can be added to DrivePool, and you can use the "Disk Usage Limiter" balancer to ensure only duplicated data ends up on it, as well as the file placement rules. Quote
0 airjrdn Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Crashplan isn't going to offer duplication, it's backup software, not syncing software. The advantage (one of them anyway) of backup software is versioning. You can get back different versions of your files. If you simply want to sync a copy of your pool or some subset of the files on it at different intervals, look into Syncback, FreeFileSync, etc. I've used others, but none with the simplicity and robustness of those two. I use Syncback for automated syncing, and FreeFileSync for one-offs. Christopher (Drashna) 1 Quote
