  1. Thanks. I have updated and I'm back to normal now.
  2. StableBit DrivePool Version 2.2.0.852 BETA. I have submitted the troubleshooting info, as requested.
  3. I did try restarting Windows earlier which didn't help. I tried restarting the service just now and that didn't help either. If I change the volume label or mount point, it doesn't reflect that either. That's actually my biggest problem since it appears out of order in the list.
  4. I have a weird problem following the repair of a corrupt disk. When I hover over one of my disks in DrivePool, the little popup shows my disk is RAW even though it is readable. The other details (unduplicated 14.0GB, duplicated 4.01TB, other 472MB, free 531GB) all appear correct. Chkdsk shows the disk is okay and reports the filesystem as NTFS. The pool is working and I can access the files without issue. I'm 99% sure the problem is cosmetic and I just need DrivePool to re-read the disk. Is there a way to do that?
  5. Hello, I have a CloudDrive on OneDrive for Business that I can't fully destroy. I chose the Destroy menu option, entered the word "destroy" and waited for it to complete. Afterwards I received an error, but the drive was gone and seemed okay until I noticed there are still a ton of files in OneDrive. Also, if I go to create a new CloudDrive, it shows up there in red as "Destroyed Drive". I then tried to destroy it again from the new drive screen, several times actually, but it always just ends with an error and the files remain. Now I believe I could just go into OneDrive and delete it directly from there, but before I do that, I thought I'd ask if there's any value to you in diagnosing why this is failing (for a bug report). BTW, I should probably mention I have two CloudDrives on OneDrive for Business and I'm just trying to destroy one of them. I'm not sure if it's related, but I do get nervous when there's no identifier shown for the "Destroyed Drive" that appears on the new drive screen. Thanks. Edit: Added a capture of the error message as it appears: http://imgur.com/a/WxRPc
  6. Thanks, I appreciate the help. That seems like a better method than what I was trying previously. I am running it right now and it is working as expected.
  7. I just wanted to bump this question since I'm still looking for an answer. I tried creating a second CloudDrive, added it to the pool and set DrivePool to keep 4 copies of each file. Unfortunately, shortly afterwards I experienced a physical drive failure and all sorts of problems ensued. During all this, the new drive was somehow corrupted and could not be repaired by chkdsk. Eventually, I just gave up and deleted it. My system is now back to being healthy, but I still have the pre-release CloudDrive which I would like to move to a new CloudDrive. Is there a better way to move everything over?
  8. Based on that description, I feel like I should be using the new format. While inconvenient, I will reupload to a new drive in order to make use of newer algorithms, etc. I'll probably wait until post-release before doing so in case any further changes crop up. Being that I'm using a pre-release version, I accept that there is no conversion utility. Post-release, I hope that we aren't running into this situation though. All that said, I hope you can offer some advice on migrating data from one drive to another. I have my CloudDrive mounted as a disk in my DrivePool. The pool has 2 local disks and 1 cloud, and is set to keep 3 copies of each file. This has worked well for creating both a local and remote mirror of my data. What is the best way to migrate this data to a new drive without breaking the pool or taking it offline?
  9. Would it be possible to have a conversion utility? That yellow banner is really going to mess with my OCD. Could you please explain the differences between the pre-release and release versions (in regards to this alert). I'd like to make an informed decision. I understand it's not necessary, but desire and necessity aren't always the same.
  10. I have 10 local drives and have, up until now, had 2 copies of all files within the pool. I then added 1 cloud drive to the pool, set the "Drive Usage Limiter" to only store duplicated files on that drive. I also configured the file placement balancer such that the only files under a certain folder are stored on the cloud drive. And I set the folder duplication to 3 copies. Now here's my problem: Since I have 10 local drives, plus 1 cloud drive, Drive Pool will happily keep most of those 3 copies on the local drives. There's only a 3/11 chance of the files being placed on the cloud drive. What I'd like is the first 2 copies to be distributed across all the local drives and then the third copy to be placed exclusively on the cloud drive. The best option I've come up with is to reduce the file placement to only 2 local drives plus the cloud drive, which then forces a full copy to be placed on my cloud drive. It works, but it's not really ideal.

    Rate Limit Exceeded

Not sure if I should put this here or just start a new thread, but I'll start here since it is related. With OneDrive for Business, sometimes I get an error "The remote server returned an error: (429)". When it happens, it happens many times, for example just now it occurred 257 times. Then it goes back to running normally. In the OneDrive Dev Center, there is documentation that says this means the API rate limit has been exceeded and so connections have been throttled. Additionally, a Retry-After header is returned indicating how long the throttling will last. I was wondering if there is any plan to respect the Retry-After header rather than hitting it repeatedly? Maybe there is also a Retry-After header for Google Drive too?
  12. I currently have DrivePool running with several disks (10) in the pool. I am running with the default of 2x duplication. All of this has been working well and DrivePool has saved me a few times from losing data due drive failures. I would like to add CloudDrive to the pool and store a third copy of some important files there, but I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I thought I could do it with the File Placement settings, but it seems like I'd have to limit myself to only two local drives plus CloudDrive to do that. Is there any way to just have the third copy placed on CloudDrive? I know I can schedule a nightly robocopy to synchronize the folders, but I think DrivePool probably can do this for me and I'm just missing how.
  13. Thanks, upgrading to the beta seems to have fixed the problem.
  14. I noticed today that DrivePool 2.1.1.561 shows "Duplication inconsistent" when I hover over the Pool Organization bar at the bottom. Clicking the arrow at the end, I can choose "Re-check duplication" which runs through and ends seemingly without issue, but the message remains. I have rebooted and the message is still there. If I go into the "Folder duplication" menu, it starts calculating over and over in a loop without ending. I let it run for over an hour before I closed the menu and it stopped. How can I diagnose the cause of the inconsistency? Does DrivePool log somewhere what is triggering this message?
  15. Microsoft announced that Visual Studio 2015 will be available on July 20th and it will include the final Windows 10 SDK. That gives developers 9 days to compile and test before the July 29th release of Windows 10 -- not a whole lot of time!
  16. Is there any chance we could see a manual option to rewrite the bad sectors? I understand why you don't have an automated process to deal with them, but it seems like a manual option would make more sense than running chkdsk /r. A couple things I would like to see: 1) If the file is duplicated, then an option to rewrite that file with the known good version. 2) If the sector is unallocated, then an option to zero it out. 3) If the file is not duplicated, then a notice that action can't be taken until the file is removed.
  17. I have both a 4TB USB 3.0 drive as well as a couple 3TB USB3.0 drives and I'm not having any problems like this. My guess is you're having a problem with the USB 3.0 driver. Did you check the Event Viewer to see if a reason for the shutdown is logged? Often you can spot where the problem lies by looking at the name of the faulting process.
  18. The new tRAID feature doesn't really involve an array in the traditional sense. It presents all the drives individually to the system, rather than as one large pooled disk. It does provide the option to pool the disks, but DrivePool's implementation is much better. So I believe what he's wanting is to add the individual tRAID protected disks to DrivePool. The intended end result is for him to have DrivePool with parity. I would also like to do the same thing. I haven't tried it yet, but I would like to be able to do it at some point if StableBit doesn't intend to add their own parity features (which I understand is outside of the scope of the product).
  19. After installing the UEFI hotfix for WHS 2011, I'm seeing this same problem (prior to that, I couldn't backup my new laptop as it's EFI). Moving my Client Computer Backups folder to a USB drive allows the backups to complete successfully, as is the case for the others in this thread. I'm running DrivePool 1.3.7563 and Scanner 2.4.2929. None of my drives are showing any problems.
