  1. http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q4142489 thats the quick and dirty method which can be easily modified for your situation As you do not have smart data - there could be an issue with a disk or two - i would scan them when you put them in your new box with the hba with the older perc's you can flash them to IT mode (i.e a hba) not sure about your 700
  2. Hi a few things to consider on the slow copy - do you have windows search enabled to index the drives - have seen this cause a few issues - mine was more creating a directory - but turning it off generally improved performance - might be worth a try having low space across 12 drives will limit options for placement or make it take longer to decide where to put the data do your drives spin down when not in use - i have mine on an aggressive 10 min spin down and do get pauses of 10-15 seconds while a drive spins up etc - but your pauses sound significantly longer HDD do get significantly slower when they are nearly full (writing to the centre of disk) those HDD from seagate are notorious for failing in high usage environments (i have lost 8 out of 12) - but as you are not commenting on them i guess you got a good batch Are there any errors in the event log/ Perc firmware/ smart info etc etc to move the data - i guess all of it from one pc to the other - a) copy across the network pull individual drives and connect via usb or install in new pc and copy off the data to a new hdd c) move the whole pool to the new pc add some new disks and slowly remove the old drives via the UI - it will take a few hours per disk

    I'm at a loss

i was after details without any meaningful info cant help

    I'm at a loss

What are the corruption errors? can you be more specific? If you have corrupt files - then dp is going to duplicate them and any rebalance is going to move then around between disks - which depending how the errors are picked up would lead to lots of warnings etc
  5. Ha when i created them before the re instal they were in the correct order i think it might be that i have named them and f (backup) comes before e (media) - but they were named that way before the change so not sure....
  6. I just had to uninstall Drive pool and reinstall (after reboot and deletion of dp folder under programdata) because it was almost locking up, UI not responsive, performance section would not update - even when files accessed and taking huge amounts of memory.(1.2GB) All went well and backup up and running but now my pools are in a different order f: appears before e: in the UI how do i re order them?
  7. i suspect you have conflicting rules on your balancers and they are fighting against each other turn them all off apart from scanner then turn them on one at a time until you see the issue start again - then you have a clue as to whats conflicting with what you dont need all the balancers

    NVMe smart

ROFL what does that even mean? committal, non committal, depends, and maybe!
  9. betas work fine - just move to 742
  10. They have to give me "the really good stuff" to get any real effect... - yeah i believe you Get well soon
  11. yes you guessed correctly on disk access as for temp equal is the difference between disks of same type is greater than your settings think the default is 3 degrees c you can adjust as necessary
  12. yes the option to order the drives to fill up in a set order get well soon - old man had his out - hot fun

    NVMe smart

ok happy to be a test bed as have three 950 Pro nvme if that would help?

    NVMe smart

Any update on getting "smart" data from NVMe drives Samsung Pro 950 NVME - no smart or temp values being passed to Scanner Also Scanner Smart option is not available via the interface Scanner 2.5.2.3124
  15. Chris will be along eventually I played with various balancer when i first setup my pool SSD Optimizer is a "special" advanced balancer plugin and when you have other plugins eg drive space equaliser they have different goals So simplistically the top plugin sets some rules - move x to y etc - then the next balancer sets up some other rules - move a to b - DP then runs through the list of data moves so if x and y are similar data to a and b the data can get moved twice - and the next time DP balances a and b get moved back to x and y - and the merry go round begins again Hence why i said turn off all other balancers - This need fixing so when SSD optimizer is added there is a warning/switch to turn off the other balancer plugins - it will come eventually once the cloud drive is released and we can get some changes and updates to DP and Scanner which are long over due Chris recommends the same - i.e. turn off the other balancers when using SSD optimisers - try searching the forums
  16. "Once you have the SSD optimizer installed ( from experience turn off all the other plugins apart from scanner - otherwise you will get a lot of file shuffling on the pool as the plugins "fight" each other)" as i said.....
  17. just set the ssd as an ssd in the optimiser and give it a go
  18. For SSD Optimiser to work fully you need the same number of SSD's as you have duplication You can have more than that hence the + I have four for one pool and they work as pairs if you have real time duplication enabled - i.e. simplistically file 1 goes to pair 1 and file2 to pair2 then file3 to pair1 etc - with files duplicated in real time so the pairs fill up at the same rate etc Once you have the SSD optimizer installed ( from experience turn off all the other plugins apart from scanner - otherwise you will get a lot of file shuffling on the pool as the plugins "fight" each other) Set which disks are ssd's (you can set any disk for this although speed will suffer if its a HDD) Your settings should look something like this Then set your balance settings to a short ish time like 3 hrs or balance immediately and the data copied to the pool(ssd's) will then get moved off to the archive disks.
  19. Have you got any Windows Explorer "enhancements" loaded? I had one until recently that would try and display a thumbnail view of the file highlighted and if you tried to delete that file a lot of the time it would "lock" the file and i would get the same message about file in use. Having removed the program the issue went away As a test you could install something like File Commander as an explorer replacement to see if that has the same issues as Explorer
  20. Chris the issue is back But i have tracked it to one option that causes the issue Over the last few days i have been slowly changing the options in balancing to match my other pool yesterday i changed the Ordered Placement rules in the SSD Optimiser - checked "Prioritise the placement of unduplicated files...." and i changed the order of the disks This caused the Balancing to fail overnight. Having just unchecked that option this morning the balancing is working again with a little manual encouragement I usually have the Duplicated tab set to use the same order as unduplicated but had not go that set yet as that was the next option to try Just checked and balancing is working through the data to move of the ssd's I guess this is a bug rather than any combination of things?
  21. I just reset the pool options to default and it appears to be working now - this reminded me that i had to do this a couple of weeks ago The strange thing is that the settings which do not work on pool2 work fine on pool1 - difference is that pool1 is fully duplicated(x2) and has 4 SSD's Could it be the lack of full duplication which is the issue?
  22. Hi chris The error occurs because the B_SSD wont balance off and the backup fails when there is not enough space left on either disk - it does not fail over to the archive disks as it should The data is duplicated but this is just a happy coincidence at the moment as i have the "backup" duplicated I will upload the logs a bit later as running a AV scan and it has a few hours to go yet and dont want to stop it
  23. do you have the HDD set to spin down?
  24. Hi Chris Already on 740 - have been for a while Yes have tried 100% several times i have no file placement rules Backup failed again last night with
