Hi not sure if this helps or not but if you have iTunes installed there is a known problem that causes this you even if your using another player, anyway what you have to do is load QuickTime up go to preferences and change the playback mode to safe mode you may have to do this a number of times as it doesn't always stick then reboot and it does stop it mine used to pause for a few seconds at the beginning of each song very annoying but the above did solve it if you google iTunes playback stuttering there are other solutions as well.

Hi I ran into power issues once and it was related to the psu my server was set to do all its maintenance tasks in the early hours and was drawing too much power in doing so eventually the 5v went pop and I lost 2 drives and a few bad block issues on a few more of them since then I always go for a gold rated over the top psu. I also make sure the power supply has enough connectors without using splitters.

Hi scanner does just that if the settings are
Correct upon a falling drive it will start to evacuate data providing you have enough space on other drive, good practice would be to leave enough free space to cover the largest drive you have installed. I have mine set to only remove non duplicated data this to me is the quickest and best option then drivepool will start to reduplicate the files once you remove the failing drive.

Lol the old Intel vs AMD debate not even going to get started on that one my own personal preference is AMD but that's my preference. My Input on this conversation was simply that I use the APU and my particular system runs without any problems I can stream 1080p to 7 rooms, play music and download torrents as well transfer data between computers at the same time without any problems but then again I also use WD greens which people say are rubbish but  all 20 of mine have been fine some are even reaching the 4 year old mark so all I can say do your research and choose what you can afford.

I did it once out of curiosity it did save some space but not a lot but I also ended up with a few corrupt files so I didn't bother after that

lee1978 got a reaction from Tardas-Zib in Bad Sector
Ok one of my drives picked up a bad sector yesterday. when I logged on to scanner it directed me to check file system to which it found 1 file with 6% damage. ok all's well I have backups and all my server files are duplicated but then it directed me to recover the file to which it has been trying to do very slowly for the last 48hrs what I don't get is why if all my files are duplicated why does not just delete the damaged file and re duplicate the good copy this just seems a long way round to fix the problem.

    Any thoughts

    lee1978 got a reaction from Tardas-Zib in Drivepool v2
    Hi,

When will the new functions of v2 be ported to the whs2011 version v1 or when will v2 be fully integrated to whs2011.

I ask because i looked at upgrading  from whs2011 to essentials but it seems very over complicated and my 36TB server runs perfect so why rock the boot however some of the new functions of drivepool would be useful but i like the full dashboard integration v1 provides.

Check your power connections make sure all the pins are intact I had a similar problem when 1 of my connections on a lead was faulty

I would also power it all down and give it all a good clean sometimes connections can get a little grubby and don't always make a sound connection.

It is very rare for leads to become faulty once a sound connection has been made unless they get bent or knocked by accident there cheap enough to replace so its worth trying
