4Frame Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Would you still recommend this card for use? Quote
Christopher (Drashna) Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I'm pretty certain that the answer is yes. Quote
4Frame Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Thanks Chris. You are helping me achieve my goal of a perfect storage setup day by day. BTW, saw an episode of home server show on youtube and you were on it. Awesome job on that! : ) Christopher (Drashna) 1 Quote
Christopher (Drashna) Posted August 7, 2014 Posted August 7, 2014 You are very welcome. I know that Alex uses a number of these controllers, actually. And I'm glad that you could catch one of the shows that I've appeared on. Quote
lottathought Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I gave this card a hard look. What kept me from getting it is that it, according to the site specs, it can only function as a port multiplier for up to 7 drives total. That means that I could not even attach 2 4-drive enclosures and expect it to work. Quote
Christopher (Drashna) Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I think this is a .... misprint, really. We've had one customer recently reporting that they used this chipset (the ASMedia ASM1061) with an 8 bay enclosure without issues (it was a "DataOPTIC" card specifically, IIRC). However, I absolutely understand not wanting to chance it. And if that is the case, then a HighPoint RocketRAID card (not Rocket, it has to be RocketRAID, even if you don't use the "RAID" part) will work for this. Quote
