Manual Reset NTFS Permissions

Umfriend

Question

Hi, due to the upgrade to WSE2016, I used http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q5510455 to reset the permissions on the Pool. For the permissions on the shared folders, I like to use the dashboard. But now it seems that all users can access all shares (even though the Shared Folder Properties from the dashboard do not show this). Is this because I executed step 12:

Set the "Principal" to "Users" and give it the "Read & Execute", "List folder contents" and "Read" permissions. and hit "OK".

And if so, can I simply remove them and would the permissions generated by the dashboard remain?

Nope.  The dashboard is actually setting the NTFS permissions on the folders.

Also, depending on which OS ... changes how this is handled.

But the best bet is to manually reset the permissions, and then open the dashboard, and reconfigure them there.  This should fix the permissions, setting them to what you want.
