0 Christopher (Drashna)
That's definitely not supposed to be that way. But could you go to the DrivePool tab real quick, and check the letter assigned to the pool? If that matches, make sure there are no "missing" disks here. 0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, I'm pretty sure this is a WHS issue, but still... http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Log_Collection Don't enable Tracing, just upload the logs. Also, could you find, "send to->compressed folder", the "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Server\Logs" folder? Upload the logs to the same place as the Stablebit Logs (the link above has a Box.com upload widget), just reference this thread in the comments. 0 AMCross
drashna should I attempt a whs 2011 reinstall ? thanks
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Unfortunately, given some of those logs, I think it may be the best coarse of action. There looks to be a lot wrong, but I'm not sure. Also, to make sure, the pool is on Z:\, and you can browse that on the server, right? 0 AMCross
i can rdp into server go into mycomputer and access drivepool z with no issues I can browse folders using the dashboard as well just have an issue when I try to add new pc's and then change folder permissions and also it shows unknown in tab as per first screenshot just added new server folder called roku shows its on G:\ServerFolder\roku and has 2077gb free space but when I try to move folder to z it does not give me that option just e f g or h:\serverfolder\roku
0 Christopher (Drashna)
So it does this when it changes the permissions? If so, does restarting the "Windows Server Storage Service" fix the issue?
0 AMCross
restarted the server storage service and still the same so looks like a reinstall this weekend :-(
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, that is a very odd issue. And before you reinstall (hopefully), does the same issue happen outside of the Pool?If it does, then this is something you may want to "bug" with Microsoft (https://connect.microsoft.com/SBS/)
0 AMCross
just tried a test folder on drive D(not pooled) it moves ok just drivepool Z appears to have the issue just downloaded the latest beta as well also just changed its permissions for users from read only to read/write with no issues using the non pooled folder seems to be drivepool Z related
0 Christopher (Drashna)
That is very odd. Could you make sure that the "SYSTEM" account has full control on the pool then?
0 AMCross
yes has full control on pool z it was working ok just noticed the unknown space just before xmas
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, so the Pool drive is definitely the only one not showing up right. And the SYSTEM account has full access on the pool. I'm assuming if you check the Pool's size in Explorer (My Computer), that it reports the capacity, and correctly? Then, I'm not sure why it would be doing that. But could you get a memory dump of the dashboard? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Dashboard_Freeze And after doing that, could you completely uninstall DrivePool, and reinstall it? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Q8964978 This will reset the settings, and require you to reactivate. However, your pooled data will remain intact, as will the duplication status. After doing this, if the problem is still there, let us know. 0 AMCross
carried out the above and its made things worse lost all my folders like blu ray or Disney dvd carried out the wss troubleshooter and now at a loss help :-)
0 Christopher (Drashna)
AMCross, Worst case, the files should definitely still be on the pool. You can do the normal "sharing). Just set the share permissions to "Everyone" and full control for that. This will default to the NTFS permissions for access. Which is what WHS does anyways. 0 AMCross
well I have started a reinstall as even though all my folders were missing after doing a wss troubleshooting reset permissions I still had the free space as unknown wish me luck :-)

0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, this does some to be a very, very weird interaction between DrivePool and WHS. Have you run the WSS Troubleshooter to "reset permissions on the pool" yet? If not, do that and see if it helps: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Utilities If it doesn't, could you head to http://stablebit.com/Contact and open a ticket there? Also, could you enable tracing on the server, let it run for a while and then upload the logs? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Log_Collection And then get a dump of the Dashboard, DrivePool.Service.exe, http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_Dashboard_Freeze And of the full system, just in case? http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_System_Freeze
0 AMCross
hi again I have run the permissions part of wss troubleshooter and that's how some shares have moved BUT only the original whs 2011 folders ok will carry out the above on sunday thanks again
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Huh? I'm not sure what you mean by that? And just FYI, the "reset permissions" option sets the NTFS permissions back to a "stock" or "newly formatted" state. These should ensure that there are NO issues with the permissions. Also, aside from the OS, and the StableBit products, is anything else installed on the system?
0 AMCross
clean install first installed scanner and then drivepool nothing else installed
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, that's what i thought, but I wanted to be sure. Could you grab the information from above and upload it? Just make sure you include the link to this thread there. http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/388-is-this-screen-shot-showing-an-error/page-2&do=findComment&comment=2426
