Scanner is unable to read smart data that Other programs can read

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have a 3tb drive in a cheap vantec 1 drive enclosure,  and it just seemed weird to me that with Crystal Disk Info as well as WD Data Lifeguard, Smart data was readable, whereas in Scanner, it says S.M.A.R.T. check is not available.

This seems especially odd to me considering that I have a 2TB portable, external wd disk and its values are able to be read yet it operates at USB 2 speeds and without UASP unlike the other enclosure.

Is there a setting I've looked over?

Could you make sure that you're using this version?
http://dl.covecube.com/ScannerWindows/beta/download/StableBit.Scanner_2.5.2.3156_BETA.exe

Also, do this:

Find the "Smart" section and check the "NoWmi" option. If that doesn't work, then find the "Unsafe" option in DirectIo.

I was using the latest Stable version from the website. Using this version,  from the start, smart data is readable without the rest of the steps.
