Spider99
Could we have more options to sort the disks in a pool? e.g. By Device path, Mount Path, signature, Serial No, Size, controller etc etc - all things Scanner shows/knows
0 Christopher (Drashna)
I don't have the link, but this has been requested, and is "planned". It's something that definitely affects us with a large pools.

0 Christopher (Drashna)
Mine is 24 pooled drives (two are SSDs), the system disk, a backup drive, a temp drive, and a USB flash drive that contains the Server 2012R2 Essentials install image. So I totally feel you.
0 Spider99
24 data - 22x4TB plus 2x6TB and 4 SSD for cache - not decided on two pools or one - any views???? Might mirror the os drive or image nightly - not sure Oh anther thing hows does the idea of hanging a five disk enclosure (usb3) off the back of the server as another pool sound? 0 Christopher (Drashna)
One pool. If you need to segment it, use File Placement rules. Otherwise, it can get to be a pain to manage. As for OS drive? Why not both? Though, I'd recommend a nightly image, PERIOD. What happens when you get a bad update? Or ... if both drives were to fail in the mirror? Or malware? Having that backup will save your ass. As for a USB enclosure? For temporary usage, absolutely. For long term storage? Don't. Just don't. eSATA at best, SAS is better (but yes, expensive).
