mklv
Hi, I picked up an Icy Dock Black Vortex MB174U3S-4SB (http://www.icydock.com/goods.php?id=191/) to house four of my drives (2x Seagate 4TB, 1x HGST 4TB, 1x HGST 2TB). The enclosure is hooked up to my computer on a USB 3.0 port. My motherboard is an ASRock H97M Pro4 (http://www.asrock.com/MB/Intel/H97M%20Pro4/index.us.asp) In Scanner (and Window's device manager), all the drives in this enclosure show up as "JMicron Generic DISKxx USB Device" (the xx will be 00, 01, 02 or 03), and SMART data is not available on any of the drives. Any help would be appreciated My OS: Windows 7 64-bit. My Scanner version: 2.5.1.3062
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Thanks for your help Chris Alex has updated the BitFlock rules, so this should get SMART data now. If you open the SMART data for one of the disks in the system, you should be able to manually update the BitFlock rules. Otherwise, you should see an update in the next seven days. 0 Christopher (Drashna)
Try this: http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/36-how-to-contribute-test-data/ Check the USB option, and see if that gets the "SMART Attributes" entry to "light up" in either the WMI or Direct IO sections. (by light up, I mean a green checkbox). If it does, click on the ellipse button and make sure that it's showing at least some text. If not, check the 'UnsafeDirectIO" option, and see if that gets it to work. If the UnsafeDirectIO option works, then you'll want to enable this in StableBit Scanner: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_Scanner_Advanced_Settings Find the "DirectIO" section, check the "Unsafe" option, and reboot the system (or use "services.msc" to restart the "StableBit Scanner Service"). 0 mklv
Hi Chris, This is what I see when I select USB Below are links to what I see when click on the ellipse buttons General - IdentifyGeneral - SSDDirect IO - SMART AttributesDirect IO - SMART ThresholdsDirect IO - SMART Error Log I see under the Identify section, it is correctly identifying the hard drive and the serial number ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When I select "Unsafe Direct I/O", there is no change with the checkboxes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- When the "USB" checkbox is not selected, then the only item that has a green checkbox is SSD ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I did not make the UnsafeDirectIO setting change in StableBit Scanner yet. Is that what I should do, given that Scanner is able to identify the drive when USB is selected? I didn't see a similar "USB" checkbox in Scanner. Thanks so much
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, thanks for confirming. Could you upgrade to the latest beta build, and see if that gets the SMART data properly? http://dl.covecube.com/ScannerWindows/beta/download/StableBit.Scanner_2.5.2.3100_BETA.exe If this doesn't get the SMART data properly, could you open up the SMART details for one of the disks that do, and check the "Submit to BitFlock" option? Give it a minute or two, and it should generate an 8 digit ID. Post that here.
0 mklv
Hi Chris, I updated to the beta build, but no SMART data still. Here is the BitFlock ID: 8U0QONX2 The four drives that I highlighted are in the enclosure Thanks again!
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, thank you for checking. Unfortunately, it definitely looks like the drives are getting SMART data, but StableBit Scanner isn't displaying it properly. I've flagged the issue for Alex (the Developer), and marked it as important. https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/18775
