Richard Ayotte
Hi, Is it important to have drives of same storage capacity to build a pool? What happens if one drive is 1 TB, two are 2 TB and another of 5TB? Thanks.
0 Shane
DrivePool doesn't need drives of the same capacity (e.g. one of my pools is three 12 TB, a 4 TB and a 3 TB). It will normally put new files on whatever drive has the most free space at the time.
0 Richard Ayotte
Thanks for the info and I have another question: does it matter if drives don't rotate at the same speed? Like 7200 vs 5400.
0 Shane
The only thing a slower drive will affect is how long it takes for DrivePoool to access it. Otherwise no, you can have drives of different speeds in the same pool.
