DrivePool doesn't need drives of the same capacity (e.g. one of my pools is three 12 TB, a 4 TB and a 3 TB). It will normally put new files on whatever drive has the most free space at the time.

The only thing a slower drive will affect is how long it takes for DrivePoool to access it. Otherwise no, you can have drives of different speeds in the same pool.
