  1. I need to move my server to the another. Current one is running windows 8.1, the new one is windows 10. What is the best way to move drive pool and all the settings (if possible) to the new machine? The ideal situation would be to have exact same DrivePool setup on the new machine as the old one, so all the programs, that use the pool could be easily transferred by simply exporting settings, reinstalling on the new machine and importing settings... How do I transfer the license? The same situation for Scanner. Whats the best way to migrate to the new machine?
  2. I am currently in the process of moving my storage drives to a new separate 24-bay enclosure. My original plan was to have Drivepool running in that storage box, and map the pool as a network drive to my new machine that I am building. However, I've realized that mapped drives have some limitations for my particular scenario. It would work, but it would be BETTER if the drives appeared as physical drives to the new machine instead of mapped. (Plex Media Server has a partial scan feature that can run a mini scan based on seeing if the contents of a folder changed. Works on normal drives, but no
  3. Hi, today I made migration of home server from WHS2011 to 2012 R2 Essentials. Same server, same hardware, only new system ssd instead of old 5400 RPM hdd. Regarding earlier posts of this forum (http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/1645-migrating-pool-to-new-machine-sanity-check/) http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/1929-whs-2011-to-windows-server-2012-r2-essentials/?hl=migration&do=findComment&comment=13432 my procedure have this steps: 1. Deactivate licenses for drivepool and scanner 2. shutdown server 3. replace ssd/hdd 4. start server, check that 2 HDD
  4. Hi Firstly sorry for another migration post - I was expecting to find a sticky setting out step by step the process and considerations, I am migrating my server from WHS2011 onto Windows 10 Proffesional and have a couple of queries about the process and outcome. I have looked at other posts and as far as I can see the process is; de-register the drivepool license physically disconnect the pool hard drives install Windows 10 pro install and register drivepool reconnect the pool drives drivepool will find the pool and set it back up again Are these steps right? Will the current pool
  5. Hello: I would like as many details as possible about moving the disks, already in use by StableBit Drivepool to a new server (new perm home for them). I recall, from a few years ago, reading that when moving the disks to a new server, just plug them in and DrivePool will see them just fine. * What "Pool" will it see? Does it create a new one automagically, or do I create one and add them to that new pool? * If adding them to a new pool, how does duplicated files work when adding 15 disks from a previous pool? I have duplicated, sometimes 4x, files I'd like to move over.

    Migrating to New HD

Hello, I'm currently receiving SMART warnings for my main SSD, so I'm looking at purchasing a new one ASAP. I've already made a backup of my main drive using Acronis True Image 2015, so I'm ready to go there. Should I expect any wonky effects with my pool itself upon restoring my main drive from a backup? Any precautionary measures I should take before I make the switch or while restoring? Currently using Drivepool x64 v on Windows 8.1. Thanks!
  7. Apologies for creating yet ANOTHER thread about a WHS2011 migration, and whilst I have read through the other threads, my questions are a little differernt so I thought I'd start fresh and see if I can get some simple straightforward answers to my thoughts. Basically I currenty have a 20 disk server build in a Norco case. All works perfectly, is bullet proof and I'm very happy with it. But I have been given a new 24 bay case with newer internals, ie motherboard, processor, ram and Sata card, and knowing that the newer machine runs cooler and quieter, it makes sense to make a move over
  8. Hello, I moved most of my hard drives from my main PC to my Storage / HTPC server. Now currently I am running a - Windows Raid 1 (duplication) two 3 TB drives (personal Media up to 2011) - 1 Single 3 TB harddrive (personal other files) - 1 single 2 TB files which seems to be slowly failing (personal Media 2012+) - adding two new 3 TB drives next week all of those are backed up to the cloud with crashplan. Crashplan is re-synchronizing right now. I heard much good about drivepool. BUT I am really confused why I hardly cant find any YOUtube videos like reviews or hands one video
  9. I'm currently building a new server based off different hardware. I currently have my DrivePool configured perfect for me, but have a question about moving the drives. One of my drives is the C: partition and in the DrivePool, so I understand that I will have to remove it from the DrivePool. For the other drives, do I need to turn off duplication and remove them from the pool to be able to move them?
