Duplication Warnings

westptx

Question

I just had the distinct pleasure of migrating from WHS 2011 to W2K12 R2.  I also sprinkled a few new HDs that are much larger capacity.  Now that I have everything all settled, I keep getting duplication warnings that I cannot seem to get rid of.

It turned out that the files were corrupted, so I manually deleted them, ran chkdsk, etc.  Now, DrivePool is throwing up warnings for files that don't exist.  It sees that the file is corrupted/unreadable (which could be legitimate) but the files have since been deleted from the pool.

I'm running build 2.1.1.561.  Thoughts?

I'm actually fine with 2012 R2, it's just the migration was a royal pain.  Now that things have settled down, I'm in a much better place.  After I made the post, I turned on the logging and rebooted the machine.  I didn't login and check to see if the warnings persisted.  My new cables came in, so I rerouted all of the cables with fancy new locking ones, so maybe that will help.

I'll keep an eye out for that specific message but it looks like it's subsided for the time being.

Ah, yeah, migration can be a real PITA.

As for the cables, that could have fixed the issue. From the sounds of it, one or more disks may have been disconnecting. That could definitely cause the error you mentioned. And replacing the cables could have swapped out a bad cable, or reseated a loose connection.

If the issue doesn't come back, then ... well that's probably what the issue was.

But if it does come back, enable the logging and let us know.
