What does "Increase Priority" toggle do?

blueman2

Question

I see a toggle just to the right of the Performance Bar at the bottom of the screen on 2.x.  Hover-over labels it as "Increase Priority".  I tried it to see if it would help with a major rebalancing I am doing which is taking a long time.  But it does not seem to have any impact.  Using Task manager or procexp, I see no change in the priority or affinity for the DrivePool process when switching the toggle.  I also see it taking no more or less resources (CPU, Memory) when I switch the toggle.

Just curious.

Just what it sounds like. :)

It increases the priority of the currently running task. That means that it uses up CPU time more aggressively and may run faster.

However, as you've indicated, it depends on the system specs and the load the system is under, if this makes a difference or not.
