Problems Upgrading to 2.1

bedowyn

Question

Hi.  Newby is back with another, new problem.

So I now have a stable DrivePool on my 2008sp2 32 bit file server.  That is good.

But version 2.0x does not support symbolic links.  That is bad.

But version 2.1x is out today and it apparently does support MkLink.  That is good.

But I cant seem to install the upgrade manually.  That is bad.

To be specific, there is no system tray icon to try to force an upgrade through the software.  And when I manually run it, with or without elevated privileges, I get a fatal error, but only after the volume has unmounted.  (I have to reboot to get it back).

Error log is pasted below.  Any suggestions?

You're just not having any luck. :(

Could you try uninstalling the old version, rebooting, then installing the new version.

(yes the DrivePool volume will disappear, but it should reappear, once DrivePool is reinstalled).

If that doesn't work, then try this:

I must be having some luck, because the uninstall, reboot, reinstall trick worked!  And now we have a drive pool that hosts various folders - backed up online, redundant sync local, just plain not backed up - all combined into a single presentation (shared) folder by way of some symbolic lyncs.  Yay!

I need to get my wallet out and send you this $20 you have earned.  Thanks!
