Moving some large folders with duplication

I currently have a main directory called "Data" which contains subdirectories for all of my types of data, so there is one for "Movies" one for "TV Shows Etc"

 

I want to move some of the sub directories into a "Media" Sub directory

 

How will this effect duplication? Will Stablebit just know that its moved, or will it delete the duplication's and re-duplicate 10TB of Data since its all moved?

If you move it on the pool drive it will be fine - i.e. cut and paste - should be almost an instant process (just updating the file locations) - in essence no different than doing the same on a "normal" drive

 

if you are nervous just test it with a few large files to see what happens

Okay thanks, I just did it with 16TB of folders, and it just worked

Yes, usually, it should just move the folder location, rather than actually moving the files. 

 

There are cases that this may have issues, but that's generally if the disk is very full.
