PJK3
Get constant cycling SMART errors - drive is failing and/or drive is suspect in WMI mode. When WMI is turned off, my other controller (StarTech PEXESAT322I ASMedia ASM1061) does not register any SMART data. Would optimally like to have both functioning properly w/o having to toggle Unsafe Direct I/O on. Christopher (Drashna)
Could you submit the BitFlock ID of the system? To do so, open the SMART details on any drive that works, and check the "submit to bitflock" ID.

Christopher (Drashna)
Okay, I've flagged the issue. I'm not sure when Alex will get to it, but hopefully soon. https://stablebit.com/Admin/IssueAnalysis/27217 In the meanwhile, could you see if uninstalling the intel RSTe drivers helps? PJK3
Hrm. Maybe? So, I posted that on Saturday, tried Unsafe IO overnight (about 12 hours - it crashed a couple times), toggled WMI back on, and then re-installed drivers (RSTe) to make sure I had the latest version for my board. (I did.) I didn't have much time to fiddle with it Sunday, Monday, or today - but watching for the last 3 hours in RDC, it hasn't flagged a SMART error once. So I dug back through the RunTask-Alert-Evaluations.log, and it appears to not have triggered an error since the driver re-install. I was previously getting drive failure SMART errors every 30-60 minutes. So.... possibly a driver issue, now fixed? That'd be good news. I'll re-post an update when / if I get more errors or in a few days.
Christopher (Drashna)
Well, I'm glad to hear that it seems to be much more stable now! And yeah, we've seen some weird issues with the Intel RST drivers, which is why I mentioned them. So it is entirely possible that reinstalling them may have fixed the issues. PJK3
I think it's safe to say this is resolved. It has been over a week and no further SMART errors of any type. Previously I was getting a a couple dozen or more daily. Thanks for the help. It would appear the RST driver re-install was likely the fix. PJK3
Christopher, I'm sad to say this issue appears to have come back / never really was fixed. Since my last post, I noticed maybe once a week an SMART item appearing in the logs, but since a Windows update / reboot last night, I've seen about 10 errors in 12 hours. After another reboot, the problem doesn't seem quite as enthusiastic, but does still seem to occur. I've got email notifications off, so it's not spamming me to death, but it also forces me to keep email notifications off. ;-) Hopefully this additional data helps identify / isolate the problem. Regards, Philip
Christopher (Drashna)
Sorry, Alex has been very busy with stableBit CloudDrive, but hopefully, we be able to get to this soon, and add some much better handling for this.
PJK3
Understood. Frankly, I'm interested in improvements to CloudDrive over this issue as well. Just didn't want it to get completely dismissed. Thanks for the follow up.
Christopher (Drashna)
We haven't forgetten, it's just a matter of resources. We'll get to it sooner or later, And hopefully sooner, now that we're nearing a release for StableBit CloudDrive.
