Can't get balance immediately to start?

I am trying to prep for a drive replacement and trying to empty out the old drive.

 

Clicked on the drive usage plugin and unselected duplicated and unduplicated files for the drive in question.

In settings, I clicked on balance immediately and unchecked not more than every X hours.

 

I have checked allow balance plugins to force immediate balancing.

 

 

 Nothing happens..

I am on 2.2.0.651 BETA

Make sure the ratio in the balancing settings is set to "100%" and save.

 

Also check the Pool condition section at the bottom of the screen. There should be a "^" with the "Rebalance" option.

If not, try remeasuring the pool, as this should definitely kick off the balancing.

Didn't help.  I don't think I have ever seen the indication by the pool conditions to rebalance in the few days I have been testing.

 

I have on disk with data on it that I wish to test emptying and two completely empty drive of much larger capacity.   W

Uncheck the "but not more often than every X hours" options.

I have had the check box in various states to no avail...I even tried the balance at a specific time.

 

For kicks I just restarted the service and did a re-measure...and now it's balancing...should I have to restart the service?  Immediately after install I did disable automatic balancing....

Well, restarting the service can help sometimes, but no, you shouldn't need to do this.

 

 

And disabling automatically balancing will prevent it from balancing altogether. Unless you manually start it.
