No disks in pool?

S_F

Question

A few weeks ago my WHS 2011 install went a tad pear shaped. I uninstalled Drive Pool and tried to repair WHS. The repair seems to have worked. I tried to reinstall Drive Pool and all ov my folders show up under the folders tab listing the correct sizes, file types and so on but I can't access the Z drive made by Drive Pool and the Drive Pool tab says that there are no disks in the pool. All of my drives are listed under the drives tab.

Wait! News Flash! As I was typing this I looked at the Drive Pool tab and all of the disks and folders are now listed! At the bottom is says "Pool Condition Measuring 39.4%". It said that yesterday all day also.

The data still isn't accessable from the Z drive. Any ideas?

What version of StableBit Drivepool are you using?

Could you get the error reports from the system?

http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_DrivePool_2.x_Error_Reports

After doing so, could you try resetting the settings and see if that helps?

If that doesn't help, try completely removing StableBit DrivePool and reinstalling it:

I'm not sure if those procedures are necessary at this point. I completely reinstalled WHS 2011 and everything seems stable now. Thanks though!

I do have one more question. When I reinstalled Drive Pool the old folders weren't recreated. I can re add the folders I created no problem. But how do I go about dealing with the new ones that come with WHS? The new installation created Videos, Music, etc. on the D drive. If I "move" the folder to it's location on the pool is there a possibility of overwriting all of my files with the new lank folder?

Does that make sense? Seems pretty garbled to me.

For this, we recommend that you download the WSS Troubleshooter utility. Run it on the server and select the "Rebuild DrivePool Shares" option. This will automatically reshare the pooled locations, bypassing the dashboard's issues with moving shares to locations with existing data.
