WHS Client Backups best settings

Question

Hi guys,

Today I've decided to move away from WHS V1 and onto a a fresh install of Windows Home Server 2011 and have bought & loaded DrivePool onto it with 5x 2TB drives in a Pool.

Now previously I've gone to Home Server 2011 with another pool software a couple of years ago but found the client backups were very unstable in a Pool and found they got corrupted easily.

I've been keeping tabs on the forum here however and have found some people having positive luck recently with getting their client backups on a pool drive in a reliable way that doesn't corrupt or anything.

Just to clarify I could not just use one HDD for backups as the client backups exceed 7TB total and with only 1 8TB drive on the market currently that is not an option right now for me.

To the point, rather then guess around with settings as I have right now, what would be the best settings for a new pool? - Keeping in mind its only used for Client Backups.

To give you guys a current idea of how I've set it up at the moment heres an Imgur album link:

Hope somebody can share some light on this topic.

Thanks!

There definitely should be no issues with the Client Backup Database being on the pool. It's well tested. In fact, generally the only time there is an issue ... is when there is an issue with one or more of the disks in the pool.

As for settings, the only thing we really recommend is that you enable duplication for the folder. This way, if a disk fails, you don't lose a large chunk of the database (or even all of it).

Aside from that, it really depends on personal preference.
