  1. You do not have to free any drives You can add drives to the pool with data on and your data is maintained (dp creates a hidden directory per drive) when you then look at the DP gui - your drives (when added) will show no data but an amount of "other data" equivalent to the data you have on the drive. The quick and dirty method to move the data to the pool is to navigate in windows explorer to the root of a drive - select the folders you want in the pool - and move these inside the DP hidden folder - which will have part of its name including "poolpart" As you are moving on the same drive a "smart move" only updates the locations of the files - so even large amounts of data only takes a few seconds. Repeat for all drives.
  2. So we dont have drive letter as an option then would like Best (d:\) Test (e:\) Drivepool (p:\) Drivepool (T:\) i.e ignore the drive name
  3. not sure i understand what you want it for but you could create more than one poll then create a pool of pools
  4. let me know and i can test when you get it fixed
  5. ok will do - if its relevant i was connecting via RDP yes did have performance section open - default for me just waiting on a Handbrake run to finish then will run troubleshooter - should only be 20 mins or so update - just closed the performance section - cpu usage went to zero and stayed their! update2 - on Win10 closing the performance section - also dropped the small cpu usage to zero
  6. Any chance the "Sort pools by Name" could support by Drive letter as an option? .840 * Force deletion of the recycling bin, "System Volume Information", and .covefs folders when a pool part is being removed. (deal with invalid ACLs and read-only attributes). * Perform background duplication after measuring completes, if it's inconsistent. * Sort pools by name. * [D] Fixed hierarchical pool part duplication tags. Hierarchical pool part duplication tags will reset. * Fixed pooled disk list UI flicker.
  7. Reading the notes for the recent beta's i was expecting the cpu usage of the UI for DP to be less With no balancing etc running its sitting between 5% and 15% - i.e. it doing something but there is no access to the pool drives this is with an i7 so its using most of a single core - although the cpu is only running at 1 GHz (speed step) rather than 3.2GHz this is on 2012r2 Wondering what its actually doing as there is no indication in the UI that its doing anything? on win10 - creators update 844 is only using 0.1 to 1.0% again on a i7
  8. using the Statistics plugin i see

    Pool Order

Yes i would like this as well
  10. similar to Chris Large part of mine is Blu-ray backup copies, Movies and TV series ripped, home movies plus historical data etc etc Duplicated mostly except the Blu-Ray backup copies as still have the original media I think you better start collecting to catch up
  11. Sounds like you had data on your f drive prior to creating your pool? You have two poolpart folders because you have created two pools and it looks like you added the drives to both pools? I would uninstall DP, remove the poolpart folders (first checking you have no data files within), reinstall DP. Then move the data you have on F into the newly created poolpart directory - the files should then be visible in DP
  12. Look up mounting drives to folders - its how i have mine dp does not use drive letters to find the pool drives programs are going to access the pool rather than the drives directly i have 33 drives in my DP server but am only using 4 drive letters
  13. the share can have a drive letter - so kodi can see it - which would be your pool drive letter all the data disks dont need drive letters
  14. You can mount the drives to a folder in windows and remove the drive letter for you data drives i have 33 drives in one machine but only four drive letters in use
  15. ah yes the second option was unchecked for some reason - probably when i was trying something out The first point was that 1% is a lot of data and needs more options e.g. 99.1,99.2 ... etc
  16. With larger pools the difference between the balance ratio of 99% and 100% actually equates to a large amount of data. In my case 664GB This leads to the pool not balancing for potentially a long period and leaves the ssd drives with significantly reduced space - so a new copy of a large amount of data to the pool can lead to issues. So can we have a more granular control of the % at the top end - can't think anybody uses anything less than 90-95% on the balance ratio - so 0% to 100% is a bit overkill
  17. Hi Chris No read only folder that i know of - other than os protected folders etc but they are not on the pool Hopefully Alex did fix it - time will tell
  18. Chris Good new and bad I did some testing on my Win10 machine as this is much quicker to run dpcmd (small pool) than on my 2012r2 I went back to beta 742 as this never gave me any problems - i ran the powershell script 30+ time in quick succession and no unduplicated files were found - ran dpcmd before and after to check I installed beta 748 - ran the script - and bingo the problem returned on the second script run! - ran dpcmd before - no undup files after the install - ran dpcmd after issue and as this is a ssd pool the re dup occured so quick i could not catch it in dpcmd output - but the gui showed the "error" I then installed 810 - and have run the script multiple time 20+ and so far no undup files have turned up So to me this indicates that whatever is causing this started between 742 and 748 - it also might be fixed in 810 but i need to do some more testing on my win10 machine to be sure - also 806 which my 2012r2 is on still shows the problem All tests were done with bypass filters ON and Avast installed and enabled (was going to do an uninstall but thats not necessary now as i am sure its not related.) On 2012r2 - bypass filters had no effect What version of powershell are you using to run the scripts? on win10 its 5.1.15063.483 - although i think it occurred before creators update which i only have had for a couple of weeks on 2012r2 its 4.0.-1.-1 as a possible difference between your machines and mine T
  19. Bypass filters is on Real-time duplication is on Have never changed these since starting to use DP Have turned off bypass filters to see if that makes an effect on 2012r2 As for Symantec - yes that's on 2012r2 BUT not on the Win10 machine as thats Avast - don't want to uninstall symantec if i dont have to as it takes ages to install and update Just going to update Win10 DP to latest beta to keep them in sync - not that it will change things but...
  20. Script only needs to be run once (with more testing) actually to create the issue - does this on two different machines 2012r2 and Win10 creators update - now on .806 so looping would not change anything unfortuantely Thanks for the ticket reference
  21. Hi Chris Just curious do any of the latest beta's address this issue? Also does this issue have a incident number? Thanks
