until larger drives come out

im not planning any type of gaming rig. just currently my phenom 2 945 3.0ghz with 16gb ram and a Kingston 120gb v300 ssd for the os. my data pool currently is 1 WD black 1TB 7200rpm 3.5 inch hdd, 1 WD green 1TB 3.5 inch HDD and 1 WD red 1 TB 2.5 inch HDD
im planning on maxing out the case with 10 WD red 3.5 inch 6TB HDD and a slot load dvd rom and a 8 port raid card. for a total of a 61TB data pool unless larger red drives come out down the road..

I like that power supply but sat the 850 watt version for 129. it has 12 sata power connectors so I may get that and 1 3 way splitter for the front of my case.
-
hey guys im new to scanner and my wd black 1002 FAEX is coming up as waiting to scan (temperature equalization).. what does this mean? I am currently scanning my wd red 2.5 inch 1 TB but that temp equalization thing scared me on the black drive.
-
I added my new 2.5 red to the pool now im at 2.72 TB from 3 1 TB drives and im using 241GB out of the essentially 3 TB...

im liking the NZXT hale 90 V2 1200 watt with 16 sata ports for 169.99

I need a good power supply next and im planning on filling out my case with 1 slim dvd rom and 12 Hard drives.. plus I need a sata connector for my case fan controller so ill need a total of 14 Sata Connectors. my ? is should I get a supply with 14 connectors or get one with less and use splitters?

My mobo is set to AHCI and I then loaded win 10 preview and let it update and download newer build. Today I received my WD red from newegg to replace the dead one. should I just install it and add it to the pool or set it as its own drive for awhile to see how it runs? and then add it to the pool.....
-
I got the Kingston today its awesome thanks for the advise. sorry if I got annoying. and my pool rebuilt without any issues.
-
will it be safe to use the Kingston ssd with the win 10 tech preview? my worry is that soon as I load windows there is an update download to go to the next build.. will this hurt the ssd ?
-
Is there anyway to reset my trial for drivepool and scanner because my os drive died like less than a week into my trial and now I have to wait till wed just to get the new drive...
-

-
my wd red 2.5 just died after 1 week of use... time tocall newegg and get it replaced

3 YR WARRENTY

How much slower are the wd black 2.5 inch with 16mb cache over the 3.5 black ive had for 5 years?
im debating between spinner and ssd.....
unless u guys think the crucial will be durable enough to go for at least 5 yrs or so

Im liking the crucial M500 240gb ssd currently on newegg for 79.99
is that a solid ssd?
-
speed was great with black as os drive but wanted a 2.5 inch os drive so ill have more room for the 6 tb monsters
if I go with either a black or ssd can I use red in pc for data pool ? or will it b sluggish ?
-
hey drashna have you ever used the wd red 1TB 2.5 inch drive as a single os drive? seems really slow compared to my 3.5 inch wd black. if im transferring files to it it almost freezes the os while doing file transfer. and now WD told me not to use reds in my pc wich would suck cause I really want that 6 TB monster..
im definitely considering an intel 730 ssd at 240gb but still want reds for the pool.
What do u think I should do?

I got the drivepool and scanner installed and running the 30 day trial. is it ok that I removed drive letters from the 2 drives in my pool and only have the (pool) drive letter?
forme its the A drive...
props guys both products rock. cant wait to add some of the 6 TB drives
-
how r the intel 730 series with 5 yr warrenty and 70gb per day versus the Samsung 10 year warranty at 40gb per day?
-
are the Samsung 850 pro series capable of 24/7 operation model MZ-7KE128BW OR THE MZ-7KE256BW
My red drive may be to slow for os use the server hangs while data is transferred to it and even though I don't plan on a lot going there I want the option.
also if I create a drivepool now can I fix it if I reload windows on the ssd later
I wont be putting any part of the ssd to the pool
the pool will be created with my wd 1 tb black and my 1 tb green for now and when I get the ssd ill add the 1 tb red

saw a similar card that's 8 port but pci express 3.0

my new motherboard must be micro atx but if I wanna run a raid card with JBOD and then run expander cards to hit say 24 hdd bay how many pci 3.0 x16 slots are recommended. keep in mind im planning onboard video for this build. with a xeon 1275 socket 1150, any advice is welcome.

im running drivepool and scanner on the win 10 preview (not server) so far no issues yet... haven't found a reason for the (Server) version yet. ive had it running without any major issues for a month plus... my opinion go fot it but have a backup of non replaceable files.. but again ive had zero issues and am planning on upgrading all my boxes as soon as 10 launches
my server
amd phenom socket am3 945 deneb at 3.0 ghz
16GB gskill ripjaws (4x4)
Kingston 120gb ssd (os drive)
1 1tb wd 3.5 inch green (pool)
1 1TB wd black (pool)
1 1 TB 2.5 inch wd red (pool drive)
runs flawless.
