  1. Problem resolved. Before I could open a ticket, my server crashed, so I decided to rebuild it from scratch. After rebuilding and installing DrivePool, I notice that the two 'missing' external USB3.0 drives are present, so apparently something inside the OS was fubar'd. Thanks for your support - and a fine product.
  2. The show up in windows explorer and Disk Management. They each have a drive letter assigned to them and I am able to read and write to them. They are formatted as NTFS. All of my disks, including these, are Basic (not dynamic).
  3. I have drivepool v2.1.1.561 installed on WHS2011. It is currently providing a pool of storage from 3 eSata Raid0 drives (6 disks total) with no problem. I also have three external USB3.0 drives attached and would like to create a second pool from two of these three drives. The problem is that from DrivePool, only one of them is visible - and it's not the one I want to use. The two missing drives are a WD MyBook (3TB) and a WD Elements (3TB). Just prior to trying this I upgraded the firmware to v1.025 and v1.065 respectively. I have also disabled the auto power management on all three drives to provide a more stable environment. It seems to me that at a previous point I had these drives in a drivepool, but they were not stable. The removal of the auto power management has solved (I hope) that problem. How can I get DrivePool to recognize these drives?
  4. It's good to know that I can switch back and forth without any problems. I'll give that a try and see which makes more sense to me. Thanks.
  5. I just rebuilt my WHS 2011 with a new motherboard and processor and installed the 1.3.6.7585 wssx version. On the previous server I had installed the Windows 7 version.(2.1.1.561). I miss the ability to monitor and change the DP on my server, using the copy on my Windows 7 PC, but like some of the integration of DP with the WHS 2011 Dashboard. What is the functional difference between the 1.x version and the 2.x version? It would seem that 2.x might contain things that the server version doesn't. If I stay with the 1.x version on the server what am I missing? Thanks. Ted

    Bootup problem

I have DrivePool installed on two PCs. A WHS2011, and a Windows 7 pc. The WHS2011 copy is working fine but when I reboot the Win7 PC DP creates another pool with one of the existing drives. The Win7 pc has 4 drives + CD. The boot drive is SSD and is not in any DP configuration. Drive D (3TB), E(2TB) and F (3TB) are in pool as drive G. Drives D & E also have some non-pooled data; Drive F is entirely dedicated to the pool. When the pc boots up, DP says that drive D is missing, but what really happens is that DP creates a pool for Drive H and uses drive D for that - thus drive D is missing for pool G. Pool drive H has one empty folder in it: My Pictures. Interesting note is that the 'PoolPart.*' folder for the newly created pool H has the old timestamp on it and the old 'PoolPart.*' folder has the current timestamp. To correct the problem, I go into DP and remove drive D from the second pool (H) and then DP finds D available for the original pool (G). I don't reboot that often and would not swear that it happens every time, but I believe that it does. No data is lost, as far as I have observed. Just in case it means anything - drive H is normally mapped to a share on the WHS2011 pc, but not the pool created by DP there. H E L P ! ! --- Ted
