Cache on Pooled Drive

After a round of testing Stablebit's products, I've now happily bought a license for all of them.

 

I have a quick question about the location of the CloudDrive cache. Is it okay to place this in a pooled drive created by DrivePool (all HDDs)? Or is it better to have dedicated drive outside the pool for this?

As for the cache, it's best outside of the pool.  The files are locked, so they'll never get balanced, or cause issues with removal.

 

And, honestly, the best option is a large(ish) SSD. Yes, it will get thrashed, but.... it will get very good performance.

Otherwise, a "smallish", higher performance drive would be best.

I've realised that I actually cannot select the pooled drive as a cache drive...probably a safety feature that Alex implemented!

 

As for the type of drive: why is an SSD better? I only have a 80/20 Mbit broadband connection, so obviously any HDD is faster...why would an SSD bring more performance?
