Electrician despite warning him to notify me pulled the plug on My Windows Media Center.
Since then Get event ID 153 The IO operation at logical block address 0x5e8a40 for Disk 7 (PDO name: \Device\00000038) was retried
When Disk 7 is accessed (main Recorded TV Drive) computer was locking and at times scanner would stop updating. You couldn't even shutdown the scanner service it was all locked up.
I forced scan on the drive in scanner and the event logs kept coming. No errors show on scanner for the drive and the SMART data is perfect.
4TB Seagate drive.
Asmedia PCI 1061 controller card.
Second drive on that card is working fine.
I have stopped using the drive and the WMC has stopped locking up.
Suggestions on troubleshooting thanks and why would scanner stop responding and not recover or even allow the scanner service to shutdown but eventually explorer would recover unless it go very bad and I had reboot.
Can a hard drive be faulty but scanner reports it is fine?
I had a lot of trouble finding a driver for the card that worked without errors 8 weeks ago and saw this in the logs until I got a driver that worked. It has the same controller chip onboard along with intel on the motherboard. The computer originaly detected the card and used the same drier as the onboard controller http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme6/
The error logs for this go back to the time the computer was rebooted. I find this error for two other drives but back in time months ago on different controller and not a lot of them.
