dannybuoy
The popup help tooltip for this options suggests that it may be incompatible with certain filter drivers such as those that deal with disk encryption. I was planning on enabling Bitlocker on my pooled drives, does anyone know if enabling this setting could cause a problem?
0 Christopher (Drashna)
TL;DR: You should be able to use BitLocker without any issues BitLocker does not use a file system filter for encryption, but hooks directly into the disk management. It encrypts the volume itself, rather than just the data that goes onto it. Because of this, there is no filter involved, and no adverse reaction. However, there are 3rd party solutions that use file system filters for the encryption. Data Deduplication, Quota management, antivirus, and pre-emptive defraggers all use file system files, though. 0 dannybuoy
Cheers, I will enable it then. Expecting it to take a looong time to encrypt an 8TB disk though!
0 Christopher (Drashna)
Oh, yeah it will. Longer if filled! Just make sure you store the recovery keys in a very safe place!
