Hello all, So i will try to summarize as much as i can. I run my drivepool on WD RED drives, about 5 of them, i had 1 fail on me in the past and now a 2nd seems to have done the same. Im not sure why they are failing so much, i thought they were the best but the desktop pc i have them all cramped in is probably not the best place for and i dont have the vibration absorbing screws or anything special so maybe thats why. Is his failure message a result of drivepool and the drives are actually not damaged ? i will post a screen shot, my drives show lots of space, but 1 drive is completely empty !!! I thought it was not balancing the drives correctly, but im guessing due to the HDD failure message drivepool evacuated all data from that bad disk ? now i have no space to even download a file, not sure what to do. I also have things in my drivepool that i dont have to be duplicated to save space on pool, can i manually disable duplication on certain folders without effecting anything else ? Please advise Thank you all. (Side note this drivepool houses ONLY my PLEX media collection and is used for nothing else)

Hey all, I figure I would ask here because smart people use Drive Pool! I just got rid of WHS 2011 as my home server software due to unacceptable issues, unreliability and boot issues. Obviously it did have a great client PC backup system that worked fairly well where windows 10 does not. I am running a drive pool with first level folders that I map various users to on their PCs, so we are not talking high tech here! I gave VEEAM endpoint free a go, but it will not 'see' the network mapped drive I allocated for the backups. The permissions are all OK, just being a pain. I am now onto EASEUS ToDo backups which does backup to my 'home server' mapped network drive and seems to be OK, but what else is out there that you rate - free or paid if it is worth the investment - and are there any other Windows 10 friendly ones that would allow me to centrally administer the backups like my WHS software did? If I dont find anything better I will probs just stay with the EASEUS solution as it is pretty neat - unless VEEAM support can fix their issue. What-cha-got?

When using DrivePool in conjuction with CluodDrive I have a problem when uploading a large amount of data. I have the following setup. 3x 3tb Drives for Cache for CloudDrive with 500Gb dedicated and the rest expandable. I am in an EU Datacentre with 1Gb/s internet connectivity I have a DrivePool with 3 different accounts - 2x Google Drive and 1x Dropbox. I have another DrivePool for where my downloads go, that consists of space left over from the listed drives above. When I attempt to copy / move files from the Downloads DrivePool into the CloudDrive DrivePool, one drive always drops off, Randomly, never one in particular. But then DrivePool will mark the Drive as read only and I can't move media to the new drive. I would have thought cache would handle this temporary outage, I would also expect that the Local Drive cache should handle the sudden influx of files, and not knock off the CloudDrives. I also would think that DrivePool would still be usable and not mark the drive as read only? What am I doing wrong? - how do I fix this behaviour?

If you're using Windows 10 Anniversary update to access a Windows Server 2012R2 or 2016 machine, and you're experiencing odd issues when creating, renaming or deleting folders.... This is a bug with Windows Search, and not actually StableBit DrivePool. We've had a few users report this, including myself. Worse, is that this only affects indexed shares (such as shares created by the Essentials Dashboard), so likely will effect your pooled shares. The fix is a brute force fix, and involves disabling the Search Service or removing these folders from the shares. This means that if you're using the media streaming feature (built in or via the Media Pack for Essentials), or using the Remote Access Website, this will break the ability to view your files. You can do this quickly from a command prompt by running "sc config wsearch start=disabled" on the server. Hello... I initially configured the pool by simply adding empty drives and everything was kosher. I managed to copy over some folders without incident. I then came across snapraid. So I started over, I simply deleted the drive volumes and this time recreated the pool via folder mount points. Hardware: 2x3TB 2x4TB Pool setup: 1x3TB 1x3TB 1x4TB HDD1 is mounted to C:\DrivePoolArray\DRU1 HDD2 is mounted to C:\DrivePoolArray\DRU2 HDD3 is mounted to C:\DrivePoolArray\DRU3 Snapraid: 1x4TB is mounted physically using the root of the drive via drive letter P and aptly named PRU1. I then proceeded to "robocopy" the media content from my backup drives to the pool. Robocopy is used so that I can preserve the file/folder attributes. I opened up the pool via drive V and noticed nothing is being displayed. However If I unhide protected files/folder: V:\HD After reading some other posts I confirmed that the "HD" or the newly created media folder is present. C:\DrivePoolArray\DRU1\PoolPart.7a5d0861-96f9-464a-8ca7-466e49655823\HD Please note that if I use Windows Explorer to explore the "DrivePool V:" I can freely create and delete files and folders etc. If I revert back to simply adding the physical drives to the pool without using foder mounts, everything is as it should be - I can use Robocopy to copy the various media folders without issue - no need to unhide anything. I only decided to mount via the folder method as it seems to be the defacto when reading through the posts/forums. As for snapraid, I have it configured as it should but I don't see how it can be causing this issue. Please note that I have disabled all the balancing and reset all settings via the troubleshooter of Drivepool. Any way of unhiding the HD folder so that I can stream via Plex to the various smart devices? Or (which I'm sure) missed a critical step or two? Thanks Addendum... Ok, I have defaulted the application and have recreated the drivepool every which way I could including formatting all the drives individually and creating new pools but I cannot figure out for the life of me as to why the media folder or any other folder would eventually be hidden. Apologies as I'm a bit flustered after spending numerous hours on this! Addendum #2.... As taken from the stablebit website: When you copy a new file to the pool, StableBit DrivePool automatically picks one or more drives from the ones that you've added to the pool to store that new file. The file will be stored in a hidden folder on those drives. Apologies but my logic is failing me as I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that pooling drives should allow me to "advertise" the folders and not hide them i.e. how will Plex and my SmartTV work if the folders of interest are hidden?
