  1. Hi everyone, Using Server 2022 Standard with Stablebit Scanner v2.6.2.392 with a controller card Adaptec 72405 (HBA Mode), I'm missing the Temperature, Performance, DiskQueue, DiskActivity infos. Is there a incompatibility between Server 2022 or the Adaptec card, with the Stablebit software. Best regards
  2. Hey all, I figure I would ask here because smart people use Drive Pool! I just got rid of WHS 2011 as my home server software due to unacceptable issues, unreliability and boot issues. Obviously it did have a great client PC backup system that worked fairly well where windows 10 does not. I am running a drive pool with first level folders that I map various users to on their PCs, so we are not talking high tech here! I gave VEEAM endpoint free a go, but it will not 'see' the network mapped drive I allocated for the backups. The permissions are all OK, just being a pain. I am now onto EASEUS ToDo backups which does backup to my 'home server' mapped network drive and seems to be OK, but what else is out there that you rate - free or paid if it is worth the investment - and are there any other Windows 10 friendly ones that would allow me to centrally administer the backups like my WHS software did? If I dont find anything better I will probs just stay with the EASEUS solution as it is pretty neat - unless VEEAM support can fix their issue. What-cha-got?
  3. Is there any advantage using ECC ram on a Windows Drivepool server? Heard terror stories about not using ECC on ZFS, people loosing their entire pools etc due to memory corruption and the way ZFS uses RAM for scrubbing, there's a lot of hype about ZFS which made me consider it, i played with it on a FreeBSD virtual machine, its powerfull stuff but somehow i feel safer with plain old NTFS and Drivepool, only the ECC ram question remains.
  4. For some time now, maybe a few weeks or maybe a couple months, I have been unable to update my nest or even create a new nest. I have run BitFlock_1_0_0_547U.exe on multiple machines, even fresh installations, and every one of them comes back with: "There was an error updating your nest on the server." I believe this problem has been further compounded, when it comes to how the StableBit Scanner connects to Bitflock.com. StableBit Scanner is constantly is telling me: "S.M.A.R.T. Failure" "One or more disks are expected to fail within 24 hours." When it believes one of my drives is about to fail, Reallocated Sectors Count is outside the normal range for the specified drive. The value for Reallocated Sectors Count is always zero. After opening the Smart settings for the drive in question and looking at the values for a bit, StableBit Scanner will update its assessment and magically the zero value is back in the normal range for the drive. This is happening periodically across all my drives. I believe my StableBit Scanner issues in the same as http://community.covecube.com/index.php?/topic/219-periodic-smart-info-warning/ but I have completely different drives that didn't give me problems 2 months ago. I feel the issues with StableBit Scanner are ultimately issues with BitFlock.com I have clicked the Update button at the bottom of Smart window, it does update the data, and returns the status to normal. I have also submitted to Bitflock.com for analysis and that was sucessful as well. Its given me an ID that I don't have a password to and therefore cannot check. I have done these steps and still, a few minutes later, the popup message will show up again for another drive on my machine. When I run BitFlock_1_0_0_547U.exe /offlinesave it scans, I'm able to specify where to safe the file, and then the program errors. Update: I have run your BitFlock_1_0_0_547U.exe tool on 4 machine now. 3 out of the 4 machines work successfully! I even have the same 4TB Seagate NAS drives in two of the other machines and they never give me false failure warning. Only the machine above seems to have issue services.
  5. Based on the feedback from the community, here is how to get your ESXi Host to pass on SMART data for Scanner in your guest VMs. All you need to do is the following and then any disk (not USB) you plugin in thereafter will be available for RDM: In the ESXi Console window, highlight your server Go to the Configuration tab Under Software, click Advanced Settings Click RdmFilter Uncheck the box for RdmFilter.HbaIsShared Click OK Used the Advanced Settings for StableBit Scanner to enable "UnsafeDirectIo" to get the SMART data from the virtual controller: http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_Scanner_Advanced_Settings And make sure that "UnsafeDirectIo" is set to "True", and reboot. *Note: UnsafeDirectIo is "unsafe" for a reason. It is possible that it can cause issues or glitches, or in extremely rare conditions it can cause BSODs. In a large majority of cases, these issues don't occur, but it is a possibility. So definitely "at your own risk". Original Post: Hi Guys, I have a Dell Precision T3500 Workstation, that are running VMware ESXi 5.1.0. On this host i have created 2 virtual machines, both are Windows 2012 server standard. One of these are running Stablebit Scanner v. 2.4.0.2928. My problem is, that it does not show SMART status, temperatures or anything for any of my drives. This i all the data i get (se picture). Is there something i need to install on my ESXi host, or is this just not possible on my setup, because i use VMware? This i what i have on the host server: Thank you in advance..
