AllMyData got a reaction from Minaleque in Possibly incorrect SMART warning reading
I have a disk that has a SMART warning within Scanner. It appears to have a Spin Retry Count of 65536, however the manufacturers software (HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test) states I have a Spin Retry Count if 95, this is after both a short test and an extended test. I'm more inclined to believe the manufacturers data, but clearly this disagrees with Scanner.

AllMyData reacted to Christopher (Drashna) in NTFS permissions on the root DrivePool - what is the Parent Object?
This is normal, as the sub folder is NOT inheriting the permissions.

You need the check the "Replace all child object permission entries [...]" option when setting the permissions.
Once you'e done this (it will take a while to complete, depending on the contents of your pool), you should see the "proper" permissions then.

Also, make sure you add "SYSTEM" here, and give it full control.  This is for a number of reasons, but primarily to ensure that StableBit DrivePool has no problems with duplication or balancing (as the service runs in the system account)

AllMyData reacted to Christopher (Drashna) in Damaged sector on a hard drive - how to add drive back into pool?
    Ah, okay.

As for the data being grey, that would be why.  The data was not in the "correct" folder.

Also, depending on how you removed the drive, this may be normal.   In some cases, the data may be left on the drive, when removing it from the pool.  Both the "Force damaged drive removal" and "Duplicate data later" options actually do this.

And once it's completed, in both cases, it will "unhide" the Poolpart folder.
