  1. What bios did you use on your RR there are three available Raid/Quick/and Non Raid I had been using Quick but have spotted its from 2012!!!! Where as Non-Raid is 2011 - but just blanks the controller Think i will use the Raid in testing this time as its from 2015 so new ish
  2. Just had a play with this to set off some data movement on my test pools If there a reason we cant select a group of directories and change the duplication level within the same hierarchy level of the folder structure? I have set some folders to be 3x but the pie chart does not show any indication visually that things are progressing not does the disk bars - they are as the % complete is changing
  3. ok then....... picks up reading glasses
  4. 24 data - 22x4TB plus 2x6TB and 4 SSD for cache - not decided on two pools or one - any views???? Might mirror the os drive or image nightly - not sure Oh anther thing hows does the idea of hanging a five disk enclosure (usb3) off the back of the server as another pool sound?
  5. ps4 Emby i think might be coming for me - i have too many ways to watch already got side tracked and ended up getting a new phone today - Xperia X to replace my Z2 You can never have too much tech
  6. yes Nand and Nand3d may well change the game again Yes i bought some Sk Hynix SL301 - £50 for 256GB - in ssd terms throw away - they perform well in the 500 MB/s plus range as virtually any SSD's do now Ive not had a ssd die in proper usage - do they really go read only as is touted or just curl their toes up The one ocz thats causing me a problem is that it comes and goes on the sata port - sometimes its there the puff its gone - ocz known fault i believe i need to test it with scanner - but i suspects its a drinks coaster One other i had did start showing less than 100% life so i just binned it as it was four years old and was my old system disk and had had a hard life I have a couple of Kingston HyperX 960gb with one i hammer all the time with bluray rips / blu ray backups and its not missed a beat - with 17TB reads and 14TB writes in four months or so of use Have you played with nvme yet?
  7. Try emby Theater its coming along nicely and has directshow/quicksync etc support having the kinks worked out
  8. yeah mine could be 28 plus os drive(s)
  9. RTFM - yes well cough no i have not looked apart from when i found covercube but its so intuitive...... i do not need to...cough
  10. well when i re connect my Rocket Raids i hope to be able to do all 8 and the same time and on the other controller to get confidence i have a system i can rely on
  11. Yep what i figured i guess you can guess my progress through the testing options on my server by what i post here
  12. Fine good to hear you have ideas along the same lines - you have a good range of products - but you nee the extra - well flashy bits - that make it must have - my be the developer would collaborate - win win ?
  13. i have just got ACD an only tested - with a gig of photos - no issues - think i limited the speed so i could still use the net this was done with there windows client which has no limitations on size the web client has as ACD is not supported in Asia the last time i looked a couple of weeks ago your plan my require adjusting - so check the fine print before you fly as you might have to bring back a full HDD : Just now - usually more like 10 during the day
  14. Ah if you take the HDD why worry about the speeds? But i suppose the conversation with customs might be a pop corn moment for the rest of us Current house - Virgin 200/10 official but at night 215/18 - depends if you have coverage - router basic and very slow to use interface - think they are trialling a 300meg service for some Old house Infinity2 80/20 in practice 45/6 - BT talks a good game cant deliver on the copper to the house from cabinet - crap shoot on the distance you end up with - my cabinet was ~ 100m away - router useless - just replaced it with my own - again depends on coverage - BT are still rolling it out - still patchy. Unless you pay for a more expensive product (business) - BT do a 100/100 i think but you pay for the install on top which can be very eye wateringly expensive

    File Placement

click balancing and just hit save starts it for me or re- measure
  16. The duplication % does not make any sense unless there is some other process that happens after the dup is initially completed - re verification perhaps? Also the % jumped to 14% almost instantly at the start when no duplication existed If there are several phases would it be better to say 47.8% complete for phase 2 of 4 etc beta 721
  17. yes but the 64 million dollar question is WHERE IN THE CHUFFIN WORLD ARE YOU !

    File Placement

    re balance i think
  20. Could we have more options to sort the disks in a pool? e.g. By Device path, Mount Path, signature, Serial No, Size, controller etc etc - all things Scanner shows/knows
  21. Just testing my config and when i run burst mode on more than disk per controller the individual values reduce although the overall total goes up e.g. ~400MB/s(1 drive) to ~350MB/s (2- 3drives) to ~250MB/s (4 drives) Is this dependant on the CPU threads/ controller/ number of controllers/ number of disks running/ something else?
  22. The other thing that people are ignorant of or dont understand is a ssd has a finite life - for write - or write endurance or TBW or...... "cheap" bottom of the range ssd's - either dont say or are very low - while the larger the drive the better the write endurance is people are using them more and more - on the qnap forums as the more modern and newest nas's have ssd slots and now m.2(sata) - it appears more are being used - not significant overall but an indication people are starting to see them as more storage rather than fast os drives. As ssd at consumer level of ~1tb are now affordable(i have two 960gb and one 750gb) - i think it will be only a couple of years or so - driven by samsung looking at the sizes its looking like £250/tb or 5-6x the mechanical equivalent - add in the speed factor and its not that far apart
  23. i evaluated Emby vs Plex for a couple of months and went with Emby more versatile, respond to requests, on the dev cycle get update twice a day, does not force you as much to do things there way the only way etc as for transcoding not notice the difference Emby uses ffmpeg - does Plex? if so can only be a setting difference or version diff of fmpeg
  24. Chris Could we have the Ping Disk, Burst Test and Put into Standy shown other than on the right click menu If you are not familiar with scanner it can be frustrating to find those options!!! T
  25. Chris Just looking at Scanner and Maps when i had something i had not seen before Selected c: drive clicked on volume map and i get but no unmounted volume on machine? Scanner 3103 beta Is this picking up the Sys reserved partition?
