  1. Just curious about what prefetching time window is. So far the application has been working beautifully after a few growing pains. My prefetch settings were 1 MB to 400 MB prefetch and 60s time window. I am curious what the time window is for? I understand prefetch where if you are downloading 1 MB it decides to grab 400 for you. What does the time window represent?

Watching videos through plex it will pause for a couple of seconds as it is prefetching the next batch of 400 MB and it continues that way, sometimes plex says it cannot play it other times it resumes it. Just trying to figure out the best settings for it.

  2. I prefer CloudDrive over rclone every day :) Don't like the product ? Then just move along, no reason to try and convince other parties to switch.

I'm getting 400/400 mbit with stablebit on a google drive. I'm pretty sure that some of the overhead comes from the fact that they have to do all the encryption/decryption on the fly, which causes delays.

400 mbit is fine for me and this way i know my files are properly protected.

Stablebit is also BETA, so it is expected to encounter bugs etc. Trust me, a lot of us have followed the application for a long time and it really has been  improved in a massive scale since

Agreed so far my experience with cloud drive has been quite pleasant. To be honest i am in more of a backup phase than a enjoying content phase. I have been dumping my libraries onto it. So far it has reliably played things back, and with the newest updates i get a lot of download. Prefetching and caching are incredible pieces of tech implemented in it to allow a malleable drive.

  3. Could you do the above as well?

Also, could you try reducing the number of threads per drive, and see if that helps?

Been using 20 still with new .783 so far so good will report back, it only stops running in the evening during the day it never dismounts

  4. we on the same boat mate. anyone knows how to solve this thing?

anyome who actually paid for the service please advice since the people here wont reply to trial users.

I updated to 783 and its been working quite well now. You want to change your prefetch to 100 MB or 400 MB at least. Again if you are having issues with download i recommend reauthorizing your account as well, because of the API pool issue.

  5. More of a bug report than a forum question.  There is a memory leak when the drive dismounts (which happens all the damn time, by the way).

Attached are the imagery of PoolMon showing CLFS (Cloud File System Driver) taking up 7GB of my 8GB of RAM.   It's hard to get this screenshot because the PC is basically unusable when you have a non-paged pool memory area taking up your entire RAM.

This is on the latest version (784 at time of writing), but I have also experienced the exact same thing on all other versions.

This means that when connectivity fails, it then uses up all your ram and freezes the PC.  I see other people are reporting the same thing.   Hopefully it can be prioritized with this photographic evidence :)

These ongoing issues (retry count exceeded, memory leak, corrupt disks after upgrade) are slowly wearing down my love of this product.

    Thanks guys

This might be why my cloud drive is dismounting drives. I haven't figured out why it is just yet. Mine doesn't shut down my PC cause my Ram is about 24

  6. So I've been trying for the best setup for using CloudDrive (1.0.0.782 BETA) with Gdrive for Plex.

After initial issues I've now found the settings with which I have no streaming issues when using Plex.

    But..

Every day (every single day...) the drive unmounts. Sometimes I can just click retry and it'll work, sometimes I have to re-authorize and sometimes it causes my whole system to hang and I have to reboot because otherwise I cannot use my computer. I've no idea why this keeps happening, there is also no telling when it will happen, sometimes during the day but mostly it has happened when I wake up.

My whole system is automated, so it's a real pain to check CloudDrive every morning and then having to deal with a crashed computer/unmounted drive/ recovery (I have a cache of 50GB, which it has to re-upload almost every day, kinda annoying..).

At this moment I'm running drivetracing and fiddlercap, but since there is no telling when the error will occur next I'm not sure how much help it will be. As soon as it happens again (probably tomorrow morning) I'll also open a ticket.

I have the same problem, the hanging issue i found happens when you are uploading and watching at the same time. It'll lock up and unmount the drive. So far i have been in backup mode and not really watching things. But every night it will dismount, and i have no idea what is causing it. It is just something i expect at this point, but i always press remount and it comes back with my upload in progress.

  7. How come I can only choose from drives C, D, E, F, G.

I'm trying to get it onto a diffrent drive not listed.  Its drive letter K.  Does the drive need to be formatted differently.  Its formatted NTFS logical

I don't know if it has to do with external or not. For me it can't create a local cache on an external drive.

  8. Google Drive runs perfect for me. 20 MB chunks 400 MB prefetch which triggers at 1 MB.

I get around 300-400 mbit download

I have gigabit and i can't pull 300-400 on google drive. Using a student unlimited account. And have you tried watching while running uploads?

  9. Is this possible to do? Is this recommended? does this have any adverse effects?

I did this one time and i think it just stopped allowing it to upload. Since i have been backing up most of my content i was wondering if i would be allowed to clear local cache occasionally during the upload process

  10. This may be complete paranoia, but this whole Plex Cloud thing seems like a honeypot sting operation. "find the pirates" by getting them to out themselves.

The Google Drive Provider is definitely obfuscated. So yeah, shouldn't be a big deal. :)

    Thanks,

and seriously this plex cloud thing is a big honeypot. What do people even put on Plex, even BR rips of content you do own is illegal via ToS/ToU. People will put all their content on plex cloud. Amazon will see unencrypted data and then send DMCA takedowns. I was really interested in plex cloud cause it seemed better than using cloud drive. But after reading its unencrypted no thanks. Cloud drive works very well once it is all systems go.

Plus plex is already having problems with amazon regarding this

  11. For those with the dismounting issue, could you enable logging and reproduce the issue?

    http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_CloudDrive_Drive_Tracing

And could you open a ticket at https://stablebit.com/Contact

There is a global setting for this, and using that should work for the interim.

    http://wiki.covecube.com/StableBit_CloudDrive_Advanced_Settings

    Increase the "CloudFsDisk_MaximumConsecutiveIoFailures" value.

And it's not just that it slows down the system, it can cause the entire system to hang. This is an I/O issue, and not something we can fix.  The option is to let the system hang, or unmount the drive.

Still get dismounts on occasion will log it

  12. Same here. Its unusable lately, its only prefatching with 2mbps on a 1gbit line.

Yeah mine is now working great. Except that my cloud drive isn't encrypted which has me worried so now i have to transfer from ONE drive to a new encrypted one

  13. It entirely depends on the provider.  For each provider, we use a slightly different format, based on that provider.

Specifically, for certain providers (such as Google Drive, Amazon Cloud Drive, etc) we do obfuscate the data. Meaning we do some simple encryption on the data, if you don't enable full drive encryption.

And by "simple encryption", I mean we use a very simple to "break" encryption, and each file has a NULL byte at the start. This is to prevent the provider from parsing the file and recategorizing it based on the file's header.

For Amazon Cloud Drive, for instance, this should completely block it's ability to identify data from StableBit CloudDrive.

Otherwise, the data is raw disk data, and won't show up as the files on the provider, but chunks of raw disk data.

Yeah made the mistake of not encrypting my Google drive, but hopefully its obfuscated enough to not be a big deal

  14. So far it is working well in terms of dismounting. Not having issues with it on 777, The second it starts uploading it dismounts. And the downloading is maxing out at 15 mbps. But the verification chunks download way faster than 15mbps

  15. The latest versions ( 1.0.0.770+ ) use a pool of API keys.  If you've installed that version (ideally the 1.0.0.777) build and have re-authorized the drive, it should be using a random key.  This should significantly reduce the "rate limit exceeded" issue, if not eliminate it entirely (a main cause of the performance issues).

Additionally, try re-attaching the drive, and increase the "minimum download size".

Otherwise, try creating a new driver and use larger chunk sizes, as well.

After reattaching it works perfectly again. I didn't change the minimum download size however its still set to off.  After trying it again it seems to be downloading at a lower 15 mbps, ive seen it reach up to 50mbps. My line is 1gbps down. After the prefetch it works well, but the initial part is a bit tough.

  16. I save the pdf of my generated key in two spots, in another encrypted clouddrive from my desktop and on a removable USB drive. I name my drives very uniquely so there's no mistaken which key pdf goes with which drive. Today I tried reattaching a drive after detach and it continues to say that they key provided is not correct. This is after using the (same) key from both sources. Is there any way drives get corrupted to the point they don't know that a legitimate key is indeed legit? Is there any way to fix this?

    Try reauthorizing the drive?

  17. AFAIK some services use encryption either way. Forcing encryption lets you have the key though. Also they use obfuscation on the files so while you could technically "look inside" a chunk, the chunk itself is still going to be a long string of random characters. But not using encryption doesn't mean like "file1.mkv" is just uploaded as "file1.mkv"

Yeah that was what i was hoping for. I was looking at this new thing Plex Cloud which puts in raw files into Amazon cloud and you can do exactly what this application does. But i do not like the idea of putting at the very least unObfuscated data on the cloud, for legal reasons.

  18. If you did not select to encrypt your drive. How is the data stored? Can someone read the data? It looks like gibberish on the drives themselves. Can you encrypt a drive after you already put data on it.

  19. The drive can (will) unmount if it encounters a lot of errors in a short period of time.  This is to prevent the system from locking up (a lot of IO errors or waiting can cause it to hang).

Could you install the latest beta build and see if that helps?

    http://dl.covecube.com/CloudDriveWindows/beta/download/StableBit.CloudDrive_1.0.0.777_x64_BETA.exe

    If not, let me know.

Downloaded will test it out, I have noticed Google drive download speed is now atrocious and extremely slow. 3 Mbps. before it use to do way more. Killing ability to stream
