  1. I need to remove some drive from the pool and move data to another PC.

The files should be all moved to the remaining drives until I can remove the empty one.

Another option would be to directly move directories to the other PC without loosing the correct hyerachy.

Which is the correct way to do this ?

  2. Hi Christopher,

I have exposed the last part of my proposal in a wrong way. I don't ask for power consuption but total uptime (hours/minutes) per drive: 1) Total uptime since drive has been added 2) Hitsorical uptime per day (1/2 weeks or user selectable) 3) Uptime for the current day,

      Regards,

  3. Hi Cristhopher,

I have checked everything and drive should be with no access at all for the whole day until I make some direct access. Indexing has been confined only to one our a day.

Power consumption for large disk array is an important part for any user. I wish to ask a feature for DrivePool: drive on monitoring which should inform the user with 3 values:

       1) Each drive should have an on/off mark on its side

       2) Each drive should report the total power on for each day and since it has being added to the pool

Hope it could be implemented easily.

       Regards,

         Giuseppe Chillemi

  4. Hi,

I have currently installed 8 hard drives on my Windows 8 homebuilt nas based on DrivePool

They consume a lot of energy. How could I power them down when not used ?

  5. Hi,

as far I have understood, DrivePool stores Pool data structure on C:

What shoud I do If I recover a previous C: partition backup using an backup image ? I suppose Pool Data and C: data will be out of sync after a recovery.

  6. Hi,

after some time experimenting using Drive Pool today I have registered (DP + Scanner).

I have purchased it for 2 reasons.

     1) There is a general stability of the application which is professionally programmed (only few problems encountered). I feel I won't loose my data.

     2) Great support. I feel at home here.

Looking forward to purchase the next licence.

  7. Hi,

having many disks it is difficult to identify its position.

I would be good to have a way to identify which is the position inside the case for each drive.

If it is too difficult, an user editable note field should be good too.

  8. I am just rebooting my server after performing the selected operations.

I have had only this problem (bold one) following the guide:

    1. Follow: Q7200705
    2. Open up StableBit DrivePool's UI.
    3. Click on the "Gear" icon in the top, right-hand corner.

I have connected to the server using TeamManager.

I have then started the UI and it kept trying to connect to the service.

I have tried to open the "troubleshotting menu'" but I don't undestand what is the blue gear. Is the blue pie chart like drawing on the upper left ? (Note: the guide states: on the right hand corner)

  9. Hi,

I have used Directory Opus, a powerful file manager.

I have moved the files using its move function which copies and then deletes from the start folder.

Also, Is there a way to solve this recursive directory problem ? I mean: how I could safely remove this problem ? Should I delete the directory ?  Where ?

  10. Follow Up:

After some investigation I have discovered "PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562" is the hidden root dir of the pool structure on S:

For some strange reason it is "bridged" (I mean: it appears too) with

    D:/t1/PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562

(Note: D: is the Pool Label)

Here is the FULL DEPTH path in d:

    D:\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\Documenti

Here is the full path in S:

    S:\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1

Surprise, I have found another link at this level (S: ... T1).

    There is another: "PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562"

    Which goes deep to:

    S:\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562\T1\Documenti\_TowerTech\Prelevamento Expopages\Expo\Stand

How do I restore the correct working ?

  11. Hi,
I have added my S: drive to my D: pool.
I have then moved my existing S: Data to D:\
This morning I noticed the file moving was still unfinished. I have found a "PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562" directory in S: in place of the directory name of an existing directory I asked to move. Yes, drive pool corrupted the name of a directory in S: while coping S: on D: pool whose S: is part of.
I have gone deep on this directory and it seems it is eating itself as I have found a recursive strucutre

     S:/ PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562 / T1 / PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562 / T1 / PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562 / T1 /

Note: T1 was the destination directory in the D: pool.

I have then opened DrivePool GUI and it was informing me there was a problem in file duplication.

     Here is a last summary

     My pool is labeled D:
I have added S: drive to D: pool
     S: had existing data
I moved all S: existing data to D:
     A directory in S: changed its name in "PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562".  It is recursive made of T1:/PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562 / T1 / PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562/ T1 ...
T1 was the destination folder in D: pool
Drive Pool Informed me there was a problem in duplication.

What is happening here, Is my pool going to be totally corrupted ?
     How I could verify ?

EDIT: I have just noticed that PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562
    is located in both:

    D:/t1/PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562

    s:/PoolPart.82dabc01-dddd-45bb-87ae-8d51c7774562/t1/......

EDIT2: The directory is "hidden" in both dimensions (the S: Partition dimension and D: Pool dimension)

Hint: in S:/ there probably was a very long directory path with unusual (accented) charecters...

  12. Hi,

today I have installed a couple of additional drives to mypool drives after a bios cmos reset.

Drive Pool needed to activate (by transfering) my license due to "hardware change"

No internet connection has been found as my server has the lan cable unplugged and it asked me to copy and paste some string. I have cancelled the action.

I have plugged in the lan cable and iterned was there again.

I have tried to activate the license but after a successful transfer I have got this strange scenario

      1) Still 23,5 days of trial license

      2) The system ask me for an activation ID and no way to solve this situation

  13. Hi,

despite having set the balancers to 98% or 36GB free I have encountered a DiskFull problem.

      post-1849-0-45643400-1422486192_thumb.jpg

I have set to start the balances "no more often than 12 hours"

The first balancer is "Ordered File Placement".

I have unchecked this option to immediately trigger balancing.

Drive Pool should not be allowed to reach a "Drive Full" status...

      Regards,

        Giuseppe Chillemi
